They push Hills Science diet the Prescription diet. I don't think vets should sell or push pet food. In Europe some countries have outlawed this practice.
For starters I researched tjis product after my cats started eating iit. I was pressured to but it. At first my cats wouldn't touch it but then hunger prevailed and they ate. I noticed within weeks that there was peeking outside the litter box etc. I researched the product and read similar results from some owners and also horror stories. Consumer review says it is NZiT worth the money. A small percentage if animals seem okay but it is not a good diet for a cat.
So I switched back to my all meat diet with some kibble as secondary. Well the cats are fine niw and no more weird symptoms.
I learned that vets are NIT per nutritionists. That companies such as Hills use vets to market their brand
It's a friendly place in a customer service way for sure, and the vets do really care for the animals I tjink the level of care is very high and the staff very friendly. But it is an expensive place. All vets these days are expensive. It's not like the old days.
That's why they also urge every client to also use Trucompanion life insurance. You get 30 free day trial then you will need to begin payments. In my day vets were simpler folk who charged far less and insurance was unheard of or pushing dog food brands. We could not have afforded a dog as a child since we were not rich had it been so.
I feel bad that some people who might have less money - could never afford a vet like this. Where do they go for vets? Because vets have become so specialized and such a business.

To all of the wonderful clients who have brought treats in this month for my team. It is a pleasure for me to work with so many people who care so much about what we do. It is even better, working for people who WANT the care that we are able to provide.

WHY we do what we do: Because we care about people, their pets, their families, their relationships, and our relationship with them.

WHAT we do: Involving specialists and technology to provide peace of mind, and alleviate suffering, while creating a memorable experience for our clients by celebrating the bond they have with the pet who gives them unconditional love each day.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jeff Latimer

I just visited this animal hospital for the first time. I have not been in an animal hospital where I felt like they welcomed my "ALFHIE" as much they welcomed me.
They CARE.
Wish I had found them 10 yrs ago.

Good care, but almost double the price of other clinics. This plus a healthy dose of "isn't YOUR pet worth the little extras" on the video at the front desk certainly adds to the pressure. We all want to provide proper and timely care for our pets: we love them. But the guilt trip to have "top of the line" care which may not contribute significantly to your pet's quality of life isn't appreciated. I used to visit this vet when he was starting out. Now my fees are paying for a fancy building and what are, in my opinion, perhaps not the most justified standard of care for a pet. For example, blood work is useful as a baseline, then as an occasional test. It isn't necessary every 6 months. And the other thing to think about is this: IF the test is "indicative" of something, what exactly are you prepared to do about it? Sometimes it really IS better to watch, wait and treat pets with respect rather than overtest, overdiagnose and overtreat, all at my expense. I have found another vet for my multipet household and couldn't be happier with the standard of care they receive at less than half the cost.

Hello Janey Doe 1

I sure am sorry for your negative perception. Knowing that all veterinarians in the city follow the Ontario guide for fees, it sure makes sense that care was offered to you that was not included in the care provided by another hospital. This will certainly affect the over all cost of the care.

Like human health care, there are always lots of options. These options always affect the outcome for our pet. Ie...if we eat healthy food, we are more healthy. If we diagnose things early....we live longer.

If there is anything that I can do to help your pet, I will sure try to do it.

Sincerely
Dr. Jeff Latimer

I strongly recommend this hospital if you are looking for more than just 'rough' care for your cat or dog. The vets and staff treat the client and pet with respect and they are very professional. They offer top notch care and newest technology when it comes to medical procedures. The hospital is always clean. Pricing might be somewhat higher than other hospitals, but the care given to my pets is no comparison.

The owner and head vet is wonderful- great guy, but the other vet has no bedside manner at all- avoid her! The other major negative they only deal with dogs and cats, which is great, but so does every other vet and their neighbor! A lot of people have started to own and look into both exotic and pocket pets. Something like a rat or rabbit is HARDLY an exotic pet yet they still can't help you out with this kind of animal- despite how common they are! Hire a vet who specializes in small breed animals!

They're actually pretty nice in there, but the prices are out of this world (nothing in comparison to the Ontario veterinary hospital or human health care costs, but expensive for a pet). The difference is the Ontario veterinary college provides you with amazing cutting edge service and multiple vets on one animal and new technology and health care is human based and extensive. 100+ dollars to pull ONE tooth on an 8 YEAR OLD DOG, on top of the actual cleaning, is just completely OUTRAGEOUS!

A++ for the head vets wonderful skills and bedside manner and the staffs general mannerisms. But fail for price, lack of variability, and the attitude of the female vet.
