Today, I came to the Don Valley Animal Hospital for my cat to remove the stitches. My cat name is Lucy and she had OVARIOHESTERECTOMY due to PYOMETRA.

What is pyometra and how does it occur?

In its simplest terms, pyometra is an infection in the uterus. Pyometra is considered a serious and life threatening condition that must be treated quickly and aggressively.

"Pyometra is a secondary infection that occurs because of hormonal changes in the female's reproductive tract."

So just to share the illness of my baby Lucy and give some information to whoever will read this.

Now, what a complete shocked I was because the person that I was supposed to meet for my cat is DR ANDRE but the receptionist by named of Amanda said that Dr Andre has gone for retirement I felt like crying because WITHOUT HIM MY CAT PROBABLY IS GONE BY NOW!!! HE IS THE PERSON IN THIS WORLD TO GIVE MY HIGHLY APPRECIATION AND I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR!!! HE SAVED MY BB LUCY FROM A VERY CRITICAL ILLNESS THAT HE IS THE ONLY ONE I TRUSTED. Prior to my decision to get my bb a surgery I was so much praying that hoping my Lord Jesus (please disregard this if you are not a Christian) will provide me a VETERINARIAN/SURGEON that can be trusted and a very experienced surgeon so that my bb will be treated perfectly and successfully.

Prior of my decision to get my bb a surgery I called the DON VALLEY ANIMAL HOSPITAL for inquiry, then I made a phone call and was able to reach Christine and everything I wanted to know ahead all those kinds of very bad scenario I have asked and discussed with Christine and thankfully she convinced me and made a decision to book an appointment for my bb. Then the appointment arrived that day and prior of the surgery I HAD A QUICK CHAT WITH Dr. Francoeur (André) just to make me feel so peaceful about the surgery. He has done a very good job to my bb Lucy EVERYTHING WENT OUT SO GOOD THAT MY BABY NOW COMPLETELY HEALED FROM THE DISEASE CALLED PYOMETRA. Yes, Dr. Francoeur (André) is part of my bb's journey that without him I don't know what is my pet conditions by now. I AM THANKING GOD FOR PROVIDING ME A VET/SURGEON SUCH LIKE HIM. If Dr. Francoeur (André) will read this I HOPE ONE DAY WE WILL MEET AGAIN.

I just want to share these words to whoever will read and come to the website because I HAVE READ SOME OF THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS AND AM SAD BECAUSE THAT IS NOT WHAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED in this animal hospital. It is my pleasure to share the reviews to whoever will read and search for a pet doctors. Though Dr. Francoeur (André) is retired, still he is part of the history of the DON VALLEY ANIMAL HOSPITAL AND MOST ESPECIALLY TO MY BB LUCY'S LIFE JOURNEY.

If you will read my reviews Dr. Francoeur (André) Thank you so much and so grateful for treating my bb Lucy, YOU ARE SENT TO ME BY GOD TO EXTEND THE LIFE SPAN OF MY PET LUCY!!!

I also want to say THANK YOU to the person that without you (CHRISTINE) I probably will not make a decision for my bb to be treated her illness but because of my phone call and discussions with you YOU GAVE ME A HOPE THAT IT WILL BE GOOD AND IT IS INDEED IT WAS EVERYTHING TURNED OUT GOOD! THANK YOU SO MUCH CHRISTINE!!!

I also want to appreciate your care to my bb Lucy to all the staff or the team of the DON VALLEY ANIMAL HOSPITAL SUCH AS: NIKKI, KATY, ANA, AMANDA, PATRICIA, KIMJIGA, RACHEL. If I spelled your name incorrectly please pardon of me!! And today, the vet who took off my bb's stitches DR PERSAUD (I don't know if this is correct and if it is not please pardon me too) Thank you so much too to you!!!

FURTHER MORE, WHAT CAN I SAY BUT I LOVE YOU GUYS ESP TO Dr. Francoeur (André) AND WISHING YOU THE BEST OF YOUR RETIREMENT!!!

I had a horrible experience tonight. My elderly cat, Jack, has urinary crystal issues. Buying the prescription diet is not just a matter of convenience - he will have a serious relapse in a very short time should he be fed another diet.
I wanted to ensure that I had enough food for him to last if we were quarantined, so I tried to get a bag of food this evening - ONE bag. These bags of food are almost $40 per 2kg bag and I have been purchasing 2 bags a month for about four years at this clinic.
This evening I was verbally abused by the vet at the Don Valley Animal Hospital. He stood screaming at the top of his lungs that I was to get out of his clinic, just because I had chosen to keep my cat seeing a vet who was familiar with his condition and had not switched over to his clinic.
There have been plenty of times that I had considered switching my cats over to this vet's office, if only for convenience purposes, but the time was never right. However, after the way I was treated tonight - in a time of unprecedented crisis - strictly because I wanted to ensure that my senior cat with health issues wouldn't have a relapse, I am so very thankful that I decided to keep my cats at the vet that they have been seeing for a decade.
Nothing like a crisis to bring out the true character of some people.

Don't take your pets here! They will squeeze you for every dollar you have, and then some. I have come here just a handful of times and have yet to get a proper explanation from them about anything i'm being charged. Most recently I was quoted approx. $1000, I authorized only $700 of that and wound up being charged $1700. I freaked out at this because I would have (sadly) had to put my cat down had I of known it would be nearly double the quote. I was told that that charge was based on a failed procedure (it failed because they have NO STAFF WATCHING THE ANIMALS OVERNIGHT and they didn't know anything had happened). I was charged for them to start everything all over again because of this. I was told that the $1700 included a 3rd day stay (at a WHOPPING $300 per night - which honestly is more than most hotels), so since I was picking him up on the second day that would be removed and I wanted them to make adjustments because it was their fault they didn't place the catheter correctly and it came out. I got the bill and sure enough it was $1700 which was "confirmed to be correct" when I disputed this. I was lied to multiple times, spoke to two vets who said two different things about my cat. Only one of the receptionists is an absolute gem, I cannot say the same for any of the other receptionists or vets. My cat has suffered unnecessarily for 3 days now and since I took him before they wanted to release him, he could get sick again and Ill have to put him down because I cannot afford another $1700+. So for $1700 I got poor etiquette, poor customer service, poor care for my animal, and no remorse and my cat still isn't healthy and will still potentially have to be put down - for even more $$$!

Took our cat there a while ago as she was throwing up. She's fine now, but the bill was over $1100, no-one could tell us what had been wrong with her, and they took a nice chunk out of her front paw; they couldn't explain how. But they'll charge you for the bandage. And the two young girls at reception are more concerned with their appearances than actually doing anything, like helping out.
Avoid this place at all costs; you, your wallet and your pet will be very glad you did.

I just found this review site today - but I have been a client for many years now! Dr. Francoeur (André) saved my diabetic cat 8 years ago! Cuddles is now 15 and has officially lived more of his life WITH the disease than without! I give ALL the credit to André! Two years after Cuddles had been diagnosed with diabetes, it seemed that everyone was baffled by his weird reactions to insulin and no one was able to treat him right... til I took him to André! A week later, he was already almost back to normal!... and has been doing well since! :-)))

NOW... about my dogs - Hmmm... I know I will run out of space here before I am able to finish so I'll get to the point! I don't think anyone knows more and is more INTERESTED in knowing more than André! Give him a challenge, he will take it! More, he trains his staff too! And i don't know how he managed that but he succeeded in finding all the pearls! Sweet, considerate, efficient and knowledgeable - all of them! Christine, Joanna, Shawna and Susan (in alphabetical order cuz I couldn't decide in any other order! ;-)) - are the ones I dealt with most and I just love them! Others also work in the back area and although I don't remember everyone's name, I can tell you that they are all great!!!

Hats off everyone! I just cannot find anything negative to say! :-))))

The vets here go by their first names. Andre (Dr Francoeur) and Francine (Dr. Flemming) have my highest regard, as do ALL of the staff members (especially Susan and Christine) that I have encountered. Friendly, personable, and caring all the way. And thorough!!! One caveat: their thoroughness can get expensive but they are sensitive to that and often suggest alternative treatments/approaches if affordability is an issue. I was also impressed by the follow-up phonecalls (from a vet and/or assistant) to ensure that my dog was responding properly to treatment. They have more than earned our trust over the years.

The Don Valley Animal Hospital offers care for cats, dogs, exotics and pocket pets. The services are provided by Dr. Francoeur, DVM and Dr. Flemming, DVM (the best vets you can find!) They are quick to take preventative measures against illness and are heavily caring (toward you but more importantly, your pet) and are very informative along the way. The staff who work diligently alongside are also really great where they, too, provide dynamite information, tender care and open friendliness.
If you leave your animal in their amiable hands, then you will leave without regret. They really are the best!!
