Highly Recommended
I've been taking my rabbits to Algonquin Animal Hospital for over 8 years. All of the vets have been great - it can be hard to find someone with in-depth experience with small animals. I've found all of the staff to be very knowledgeable, and the service I've received is always attentive and compassionate. Efforts are made to provide complete care at minimal cost. Highly recommended.

would not recomend for overnight stay for any pets
We were customers of this hospital for over 30 years. Last couple of months we lost 2 dogs in the matter of 5 weeks. After loosing Bailey, our golden retriever we worried about Max, beagle. He did not look healthy and we were not sure if he is missing his best friend Bailey or if he is sick as well so we made an appointment to make sure he is OK. Unfortunately we received very bad news. His kidneys were failing and he was dying. That was too much to handle. Dr. Stewart told us we should live him overnight for some iv to get toxins out of his system. He told us that could work so we agreed and left Max on Thursday, than on Friday he told us his blood tests are sooo much better and he is doing really well, he was alert, eating, barking and we were told to live him overnight so they can give him some antibiotics so he will feel even better. He asked us to pick Max on Saturday at 12.30. When we got there Dr.Marrcuzzi told us that would be helpful if some xrays were done so that would give more information. We agreed to that. Than we asked if we can see Max and than we went to shock. Max did not recognized us, he was unable to sit, stand and he even lost his voice. We were asking what happened and why nobody from the hospital call us, but there was no answer. We decided to take Max home hoping he will get better but we knew he is dying. Dr Marcuzzi gave us full bag of different medication , for over $170 dol plus xrays, for no reason for another some $170 dollars. We did not sleep all night and before 5 am we took Max to another hospital to euthanized him. He was in pain and we did not want him to suffer. After all of that we called Algonquin Animal Hospital with some questions and we learned that after hours there is nobody there, pets are left alone for hours. We were not aware of that since their bill stats:"Hospitalization includes professional monitoring by veterinarian an an animal health technician at regularly timed intervals during the period that your pet is hospitalized wit us". What a lie , how dishonest can you be. After meeting with Dr. Stewart we learned that he would not take responsibility for anything, he told us he would return money for drugs which were given to us, we returned those drugs to him, no money, no nothing. We asked for copies of our dog file, but for some reason they were missing last two days of his life. How sad. I have nightmares to this day and
we blaming yourself for leaving our Max with them and nobody was there. Nobody even to bother to call us and let us know that Max is dying, instead we pay for no reason for xrays and pills, and most IMPORTANT we put our dog through hell. Since than we have another puppy, he is 4 mts old now and doing great but we would not go to this Hospital EVER, EVER again. We have different vet and we are very happy with him.
We still don't know what happened to Max and why one day he was doing great and few hours later he was dying. Looks like we will never know.By being loyal to Dr. Stewart and his Hospital we paid huge price. So just be careful when you go there and I would not live my pet overnight, specially when they lie by saying pets are not alone. Looks like money is most important, and pets and owners don't count.
Dr. Stewart told us that he does not care about reviews on his Hospital and that's fine but I hope someone will read this and base they decision on our experience and maybe go to another place, so they don't have to go through what we had to go through.

not impressed
I took my new puppy here for his rabbies shot, however, they never recorded it. I moved back to Mississauga and went to get him fixed, however, they needed proof of his shots. When I called Algonquin animal hospital for the info they tried to tell me, he had never recieved shots there and the front desk lady was extremely rude about it. She treated me like I was stupid. However, a few months later, I found my invoice for visit and sure enough I had been charged for the shots. By this time, my poor puppy had already recieved them for the second time. I went back to Algonquin animal hospital to ask for a refund as I now had to pay for the service twice because of them. They refunded me 13$, the cost of the shot, but would not refund me the cost of the entire visit which costs over 100$! I was and still am very angry. It there fault I had to pay for a second visit which again cost over 100$! DO NOT GO HERE THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE OR ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS

absolutely terrible
Absolutely terrible hospital. I tried to cancel an appointment with over a weeks notice and they still billed me for it. It was for an appointment for my cat and I told them I could not make it. They then told me I had to see the one doctor i had seen before and I could not see a different doctor from the same hospital. Ironically that doctor was out for the week in which i tried to reschedule and they then tell me i have to repay for all the medicine because it would no longer work.
