Found out Dr Murray had sold his practice, was willing to give the new vet a try. Won't go back.

Went in to get the thyroid levels checked on my cat. Usually they're pretty high but he's been on medication to control it. Tried to bring a few other issues to the attention of the vet but all he cared about was getting a blood test, which I knew had to be done, I just figured he would be interested in hearing some of the other symptoms I noticed (so naïve). Blood test came back and he said my cat's thyroid levels were low. Naturally, I assumed that meant the medication was doing too good a job. I was surprised when he told me to double the dosage (but stop giving him the thyroid food). When I pressed him to explain why because it didn't seem logical to me since it seemed pretty obvious that the issue was that the medication was doing too good a job he just kept repeating "that's what the specialist said." He admitted that he didn't look at my cat's file or anything before calling me to give me the results of the blood test. Said that it could be a urine infection (which if he checked my file he would have seen that my cat had bladder issues before...) or low blood pressure. When I asked why my cat's blood pressure wasn't taken when I brought him in he said "we can't check blood pressure." (why tell me?!?!) I again asked why he would suggest it and where I could go to get it checked and his response (typical by this point) was "that's what the specialist said"

Did a little research myself on the symptoms of hypothyroidism.. guess what... many of them are the ones I was trying to describe to the vet during the appointment.

Told me I should bring my cat in again in 2 weeks for a check- up... no chance! Never going back.

As the title states, Dr. Murray has sold off this practice to another vet. Always took our animals to Dr. Murray as he was excellent, but his replacement is completely incompetent.

I recommend Dr. Murray and his staff. They have always been accommodating for my dogs. Dr. Murray explains issues that have arisen thoroughly. He explains what the issue may be starting from the most basic thing it might be to the most complex it could be. He treats for the basic thing first so it doesn't cost an arm and a leg unlike other vets I've been to. I make sure to get any required prescriptions scripted so it is much less expensive to get filled at a pharmacy. As with most clinics, vets aren't dietitians so I always do my own research on feeding my dogs. Vet food is never the way to go. The ingredients are very poor. I ensure I feed my dog high end dog food.
