I've been taking both my cat and dog for regular check ups and any additional needs. I find the place very well kept and clean. Staff are polite. The Vets seem to genuinely care about the animals which is refreshing. My one complaint would be that there is a bit of disorganization. I never seem to have the same Vet, and sometimes their approach can conflict one other. I wish I could get my dogs medication for 6 months at a time, I feel as if I am visiting on a monthly basis and its becoming tiresome. Good place, would recommend to anyone in the area in need of a vet.

Dr. Keller & Dr. Forester have always been professional, caring, and knowledgable. Front staff and vet techs are amazing! Recently my cat was quite ill and not responding to the prescribed medication due to nausea, lack of appetite; and required an overnight stay with IV fluids due to dehydration. I think it was pretty evident how upset, concerned, and worried my husband and I were when we left that night.

Fast forward two hours later, having cried all the way home, the vet tech kindly called us before her shift ended to advise that my cat was responding extremely well to the IV fluids, had eaten and drank some fluids, was alert and resting comfortably. I cannot express how much comfort this brief phone call brought us.

I have absolutely no problems paying good money for quality service, educated/skilled employees, compassionate staff. Vet fees are a simple fact of owning a pet.

We recently got our new pup--she was sort of a special needs puppy--she was born with a cleft lip--Dr Lori Forester phoned the vet in Welland On., where the pup was born, and talked to Dr Bos and helped us decide if we should get this puppy--Dr Forester has been very helpful and caring with our Bella and has made it a little easier looking after her and our Bella is a very special pup and she has the sweetest personality and we are very glad we adopted her--Thanks again Lori

We went to the Cataraqui Animal Hospital since it was the closest one to our home plus when I called around for fees, their fee seemed reasonable. I was able to get an appointment the following week in the evening. The vet that we saw was Dr. Forester and she was lovely. She was patient with all of my questions since this was our 1st appointment with our new cat. I did not feel rushed at all. When I asked about cleaning his teeth she provided me with a free toothbrush. I felt that she did not try to pressure us into and services/products. For example, when I asked about toothpaste she said to try first with water or cheese wheez or peanut butter to see if the cat would even permit us to brush his teeth. She was very gentle with our cat and even put him back in the carrier for us since we were too stressed out about it. The cost of a general check up and 2nd set of vaccines with tax was $125. I could tell also that she was a thoughtful person since she took our cat off the metal table indicating that if he jumped from there it would hurt his paws since there was no give to it. Sometimes I find it is the little things that can tell you a lot about a person. The front staff was very friendly and helpful as well. When 1 tech was on the phone, another came up to take my payment. The only minor complaint I have is that we did not need to bring our paperwork (from the Kingston Humane Society about his medical history) during this visit to the hospital. I thought we had to so when I forgot it I had asked my husband to return home to fetch it thinking the vet needed to see it prior to examining our cat. Thankfully we only live 5 min away but if we had known we could have just brought it another time we would have done so as oppose to making the extra trip.

When we took our 16 year-old cat with problems with bleeding from her anus our regular doctor Dr.Kellar wasn't available so we had Dr. Forrester. She was very helpful with her advice. Over the next month we saw Dr. Forrester a couple of more times plus another female vet on one occasion. We were given the news that it was probably cancer. When it was time to put our cat down Dr. Forrester and the staff were very compassionate and gave us options if we wanted to prolong things. The choice was totally up to us. Our family appreciated their compassion in a very difficult time.

A lot of the posts here say it is very expensive, but coming from Ottawa I find the prices quite reasonable. Dr. Keller is an amazing vet. He takes wonderful care of my bulldog. Excellent staff as well. As for the female vet, well I've had her a few times and I have nothing negative to say about her. She seems very direct, but she still answered all of my questions and took good care of my pup.

Dr Keller was recommended to me by the owner of our dog boarding kennel when we moved to Kingston from Toronto, leaving behind our beloved vet of 17 years. Dr Keller has been very professional and thorough with our menagerie. I have had to have two very elderly cats euthanized in the last 2 years and Dr Keller was very kind and compassionate on both occasions. The staff are courteous and accommodating. I must, however, concur with another poster that the female vet is frosty at best and I prefer not to have her for anything other than a routine check-up/vaccinations. I find the prices very high, especially the automatic $80-$90 consult fee with every visit, but you pay for what you get. As Canadians, we're probably too accustomed to universal health care to appreciate the cost of running a medical practice. Just consider what we pay for dental services. I have been very satisfied and would recommend Cataraqui Animal Hospital. Rating would have been 5 stars but for the prices.

We recently had an emergency situation with our dog and I have to say that right from the phone call to tell them we were on our way to the technicians that helped us get our dog out of the car to the excellent veterinary care he received everything was perfect--we couldn't have asked for more caring or professional service. Our options were explained clearly and the treatment was superb. Thankfully our dog recovered fully and we appreciated the follow-up phone calls that we received as well. Thank you Dr. Keller and staff!

We have been bringing our pets to Dr. Keller for over 15 years and have always been extremely satisfied. He has discussed options for our pets and has always seemed unbiased. He doesn't push for the most expensive treatment if something else will work just as well. When we had to euthanize our cat at the end of a long life he was tremendously compassionate and empathetic. The support staff there are super--friendly and knowledgeable and I find that Dr. Keller is very accessible if I need to call him. I refer people all the time to Cataraqui Pet Hospital.

Let me tell you a little about them! Not only do they rip off pet owners with the EXORBITANT COST, they also lie to pet owners!!!! My dog ended up with an aural haematoma and I was given a VERY expensive estimate to have it surgically repaired by opening the ear, repairing and/or debriding any tissue affected, then the ear would be stitched closed through the both the skin and cartilage of the ear. I was given the impression that the repair needed to be done right away. When I was called to come and pick up my dog, I found him to still be under the effects of the anaesthetic. I was then told that due to an ear infection they found that the veterinary surgeon didn’t feel comfortable doing the procedure that I had already paid for!!!! Instead, a drain tube was inserted in his ear and a very poorly done cone dressing was applied! For the change I was given a refund of $106.08.

Within 2 days I had to take my poor dog to his regular vet in Sydenham. The vet in Sydenham told us our dog would be fine overnight but to bring him in the following morning to have the procedure as listed above done. The difference in cost was exactly $738.66 (please see attached spreadsheet). I would NOT recommend these people to take care of a GOLDFISH let alone a well loved family pet.

I have been going here for about 2 years now. I have both a dog and a cat that go here regualrly. I see both vets here and have NEVER had a bad expierence with them. They handle my pets with care, and are very helpful. Their prices are great. I would recommend to anyone!

I've been going to Cataraqui Pet Hospital for almost 10 years, I have never felt lied to or like I have over-paid...and they are always professional...I have not experienced this in the other vet hospital at the other end of this neighbourhood.

Staff are very friendly, Dr. Keller spends lots of time with the patient, the lady vet is a witch, and the prices are very, very high, esp with "consult" fee tacked on.

The reception staff was lovely and they were very helpful and friendly. The problem came when I met the vet. He really didnt seem to enjoy working with dogs. He also couldnt tell me what was wrong with my pooch or how I should proceded to figure it out. Really he just took my money and said im really not sure. I could have dont that myself.
