Took my dog to this clinic for shots for several years because of convenient location but always felt that Dr. Slater was not very caring. We had no health issues with our dog until this last visit when taking our dog for shots. He found lumps that could be cancer and said should get biopsy but proceeded to give dog shots . When we phoned back today to ask why he gave shots when he should have told us to use the funds to get biopsy first he said 'you brought her in for shots , that's what I did.' We said a good vet or the logical thing would be to tell us to test first to see if she has cancer, he did not take any responsibility but said that's your opinion and I have better things to do and he hung up leaving us hanging. The technicians have always been friendly but this clinic is dirty and in our opinion he is only in it for the money .

I have been a client of Collins Bay for years. I have never had anything but the best of care from all the staff. Recently my female had a terrible birth experience and lost 3 out of 4 pups - it was touch and go for the mom as well. Thanks to the care and concern of the staff, the mom pulled through as well as one of the pups. They all went above and beyond for her and managed to keep me calm and in the loop at all times. There just isn't enough good I can say about them all. Special mention goes to Dr. Slater's stand in Dr. V. She is amazing.

I have been going to Dr. Slater and his staff since they opened. I would never go anywhere else. Everyone treats your animals as they would their own, and their top priority is always the animals, as it should be. I simply cannot say enough good about this animal hospital, and recommend it without hesitation.

The receptionists and vet technologists are very nice and treat my dog with love and respect. The vet assistants are able to perform routine procedures, but the doctor himself is not professional. He speaks down to me every time I visit and tells me my dog is overweight. To the point, last visit he got angry with my dog for not allowing him to finish the second half of the procedure. He threw the dog out the door into the office by the collar and left us to pay, with only one of my dog's ears looked at. The staff are tremendous, but I have much disrespect for the docor and his treatment of the animals he should love.

The staff are very friendly and personable. They do a great job of following up with your pet, and making you feel comfortable. I find the vet to be a little condescending at times. It feels like he's more talking AT me than TO me. He acts as though his time is too incredibly valuable, and doesn't make the effort to greet you and really address your concerns. I have asked him questions before that he has rushed me through with a half answer, and after I left I had to come home and look on the internet for advice. I don't feel like he's actually grateful for my business but I keep going because of the receptionists/vet techs. They treat my animals like their own and I feel like they have a true geniune interest in my pets health. The vet does have fair pricing however. Compared to other vets I would place him in a more affordable bracket. I believe they also offer that you can pay stuff off in installments, but you'd have to ask about that. Overall 4/5.

I sadly needed to have one of my cats put to sleep due to extreme diabetes which caused him, suddenly, to be unable to function. As a new arrival to Kingston, I had no vet. The nearest vet was closed, so I called Collins Bay Animal Hospital. They were accommodating and kind and Gus went to sleep quickly and painlessly. Some days later I received a condolence card from all the members of the veterinary team - a very kind gesture.
I now have a rescue dog and Collins Bay Animal Hospital has treated him for kennel cough, neutered him and performed dental surgery on him. They treated him as part of their family and have followed up to see how he is doing. I would strongly recommend this veterinary hospital not only for the quality of their treatment but also for the quality of their staff.
