We have been going to Dr Carnegy for years, I am a breeder and trust them with collection of semen, surgical insemination, ultra sounds, doing all my health checks and when I have an issue with one of my dogs that I want a second opinion on (I am two hours away) it is Dr Carnegy I go to see. He always has time to answer any questions I might have. I find his staff of vets (I have see two others beside Dr C) are very caring, will listen to what I am asking for and trust my experience as a breeder. We have worked with both Michele and Renee for collection and they are both wonderful. I would not hesitate to send anyone one to this clinic and have referred many of my puppy clients there.

I have known Dr. Carnegy for many years. He was my horse vet. during the 1970's.he was always available when needed and provided excellent care. Later, in the 1990's I was honored to witness the how caring and professional he was and the staff of his clinic were on an almost daily basis during the course of running my own business. Recently I reached out to the Carnegy Animal Hospital and found them still to be caring, professional and efficient! It's nice to see something that has remained the same over all these years!

Went in midweek, my cat was having liver issues, and hadn't been eating\drinking for a few days. Firstly I never meet the vet working with my pet just some middle worker employee, which seemed very impersonal. They tell me they're going to run a blood test, to test her liver number. And that it'll be about 110 bucks. As a student I cringed a little bit at the number, and said go ahead. They then tell me that their going to keep her til Friday for monitoring and IV fluids, with never a price mentioned. So I call Friday to get the amount owe, and left my number again even though they had it the first time I left her there. I don't get a call, so I go to pick her up, and they tell me they tried to call, but must have wrote down the number wrong, so instead of looking up the proper number on file, they wait til I come in and get told I owe over 800 F$*%ing dollars. Clearly in shock, I tell them I can't afford that, they then ask for whatever I can give them now, still stunned I hand them what I had. I then get told that because cats live with us humans that any time they get sick, it's our fault, and if that wasn't bad enough, I then get told "What we do for the ones we love." Blatantly playing on my emotions at the time, still in shock over the price. I leave, and realized how badly I was just bent over and raped, and am quite frustrated with how things played out. I will never recommend this place for any pet owner, EVER!

Side note, they said that after force feeding, cause she wasn't eating herself, that she was fine and kept everything down. I get her home right after they said they were feeding her, and she pukes. I understand that travel can stress the animal out(5min ride), but what if that's not the case, and I was just given a few more thrusts being bent over...So fustrating, STAY AWAY PPL! Don't make the same mistake someone new to the city made.

I adopted a little American Staff female dog from the SPCA several years ago...Lily, and part of the adoption fee that I paid included a coupon for a spay at Carnegie Animal Hospital. I thought this to be wonderful at the time but as it turns out, not so much. When I picked Lily up, I inquired about pain medication for her as she was clearly very uncomfortable and when my other female dog had been spayed at my usual vet, they had sent her home with pain relief medication automatically. The IDIOT at the desk said, "Dogs process pain differently than we do...she doesn't need it." I then insisted that I would be more than willing to pay for the medication for Lily but was again told that she did not need it and that they would not dispense it to me. I was very upset and left with my pup and went home. After a couple more hours, the poor little dog was clearly in distress, whimpering, unable to find a position in which to get relief so I called my usual vet, who I will not name but who has a very successful practice on Robie and North St...who said that they must have given her quite a bit of medication before she left Carnegies if they would not dispense the medication and that I should call them to see if that was the case. I called Carnegie and was told by another IDIOT that "No, she doesn't require any pain medication...dogs process pain differently than humans do." My vet was outraged and asked that I bring Lily in to see him. After checking Lily over and discovered that the sutures were not very well done and it also looked like infection was beginning, he quickly gave her a shot of pain meds and wrote a prescription for pain relief and antibiotics with clear directions on how I should administer them over the next 7 days. Suffice it say, I would NEVER, EVER, EVER recommend those butchers at Carnegie Animal Hospital to anyone.
