I have brought my vacuum into Discount Vacuum for repair after I took it to a different repair shop. The other repair shop told me I needed a new vacuum and mine was not worth repairing and tried to sell me a vacuum. The nice man at Discount Vacuum said I needed an new filter for around $30. He put it in and everything works great.
