I had the misfortune to pay $45 to take my two children (6 & 8), to see the Nanaimo Theatre Group's Pantomime this year (Snow White).
Coming from the UK, the home of true Panto, I was always going to be a harsh critic, but I can honestly say there was nothing good about this facade and poor excuse for "an English style panto".
The acting was incredibly bad and wooden; I have seen better High School productions. The Scenery was poor and the only half decent stage set (The Cottage) was the least used.
In an attepmt to contain all the usual Panto gags, the production was not fluid and the audience struggled to ascertain their role with dis-jointed participation.
I hope the Group get their 'act together' before next year and can produce something more akin to true Panto!
