I have been going to this spa for over 17yrs. It has gone downhill. I booked for the sweet pampered day package. I had a horrible experience from beginning to end. The owner has taken a lot of short cuts in her treatments. The room that I was placed into for my Swedish massage was too small the poor woman was smashing into the walls and into me. The bed was also not leveled which made it wobbly. I could go on forever please don't waste your time here, go elsewhere. Luba Mera I guess when you were investigating how horrible my experience was with you I guess you weren't told that the girl that did my honey manicure burnt me with the honey. Horrible place don't waste your money here!!!!

Luba Mera Spa is priced low considering what you receive. For a first time client you receive a gift in the mail. Which is unexpected in this economy. The bed's are heated for massage, with relaxing music and lit up by candles. The staff is lovely. All working well together and in a quiet subdoed nature. Very calm, peaceful and tranqual. Refreshment counter includes a huge variety of teas, coffee, flavour cappacino's, flavoured water, and juice! The robes are new white and fluffy. You just don't even want to get out of them! In a facial it includes a light back massage, foot, arm, face, and scalp massage. Also very education about your skin! You learn so much you never knew! And not pushy to sell you products! However the products are all organic and my skin has neven been better since using them! The colour palette had a huge range from neutral, to oranges, pinks, red, purples, blue, and darks. Immaculating cleaned by staff, and noticed a cleaning lady at end of day. BEST EXPERIENCE OF A SPA EVER! Now I know why they've been voted #1 day spa in hamilton for 4 years in a row! Would recommend for everyone. However it is a RELAXING spa. Saw no small children.

Had a facial and pedi which were amazing! I was a little nervous after reading other reviews but working in customer service myself I know how quick people are to complain so I thouhgt I would try it out. I got a facial and pedi duo which was a special so I saved money which is great for me.
I have had facials at other spas and this one was definitely the best. Way better than Aveda facials which I don't feel do anything to my skin. I liked how it started with a back massage and the girl did so much during the facial I felt like I got my moneys worth. I can't say that I look 20 years younger but my skin felt amazing for days. The pedicure was great to, I would agree that there could be some updating done but the pedicure itself was fantastic. The girl used a razor and a file to get the dry callused skin off my feet (poor girl had her work cut out for her). The polish selection was pretty good, and I watched the other staff really cleaning the chairs after clients which made me feel safer then when I go to some of "those" other places. Staff was friendly, they offered drinks, and I felt great after. Definitely a place worth going back to!

Luba Mera Spa is a clean, nice looking facility, which is located right near McMaster University.
With that in mind, one would assume that they would cater to the 18-25 year old demographic. They definitely have not done this.

The prices are average for a spa of this type, but they are not appropriate for the people who would be coming here.
A basic manicure is $26 plus tax and tip. They increase in price, going up to $53. They have a nice range of procedures available, including massages (which I am told are nice).

My problem with the facility is the over attitude of the staff. When I went to get my manicure they seemed surprised that my friend and I, who are both 19, had come in. The manicurists seemed to have nothing to say to us, and basically sat in silence. It was pretty relaxing though. The available colours were only neutral browns and pinks, nothing overly exciting.

My friend went there to get a wax of a personal nature. It cost her arond $60. While she was getting the wax done, the aesthetician commented on the fact that she didn't enjoy doing this type of wax because she didn't approve of them. She didn't think they were natural, and especially not for someone her age (18). I don't think this is an appropriate thing to say to a client WHILE waxing them!

I think that Luba Mera should consider making some student days, or student prices for McMaster students, along with not having judgmental staff.
