The service I had was good, but the receptionists here are very rude- to the clients and their staff. I had the worst pedicure of my life at Spa Hava - so because I had a gift certificate at Edgewatwr I thought I'd give it a try. To top it all of, the parking here us impossible. I wouldn't recommend this spa- Saskatoon has better.

The parking here is very limited, expect to walk. The massage was fair to good, but didn't enjoy the atmosphere of the business!
I think you have work to do.

I received a gift certificate so I did not bother to check reviews for this spa until I returned from my first and only experience at Spa Ahava. All of the reviews here resonate with my experience. The front store staff is indeed rude and condescending. I should have known not to follow through with an appointment when I was enquiring about the services. The owner receptionist would not take the time to discuss the spa's services and products. She just kept saying "it's in the brochure!" As a first time costumer I wanted to take the time to know what they offered. A spa visit has never been a short order business in my experience. I have been to spas around the world and having just moved to the city I was looking for a good spa. On the morning of the visit I was publicly admonished. Again I should have just walked away as a result the experience was filled with tension. Some visit. I ended up by gifting the remaining 75.00 on my gift card to the esthetician who did an amazing job in difficult circumstances. If I were that esthetician I would quit and work somewhere else where the owners don't sabatoge her abilities prior to her customer's experience with her services.

Unfortunately, this is not at all how we remember the story. You forgot to mention that two of us spent over 30 minutes with you while you were here to make your appointment, going over each facial with you in detail by using the brochure to inform you of all of the facials that we offer. I also went over the products with you that you had questions about. My recollection is that you were very confused and unsure about what you should get and we finally decided on the type of facial that would benefit you. Never once were we condescending or rude. In fact, we were extremely patient with you. On the day of your appointment you arrived 20 minutes late, even though we had given you an appointment card in person, and called the evening before to remind you of the appointment and time. I believe we left a message on your answering machine. Unfortunately we could not extend your treatment time as your Esthetician had another client after you. We will not delay another clients treatment by 20 minutes to accommodate lateness. You were not publicly admonished. You were simply informed that you were 20 minutes late and that your service would have to end on time as there was another client after you. When a review is written, it's funny how so much is left out. It's my job to make sure the public is informed of the full story.

Whoever answers the phone at this spa needs experience and better communication and customer service skills . Non accommodating and one worded with answers on services . Do not work in spa business or represent one .

Just had a waxing done two days ago and it was the worst experience. The wax was too hot and she used way too much, which resulted in my skin being pulled and ripped. I made it clear that it was hurting but to no avail. Before this burning, painful event happened, I waited 20 minutes to get in.
I have had 2 waxings done with 2 different women and both were bad. My other experience was getting my eyebrows waxed and tinted. She used eyebrow tweezers on me after the waxing and ripped my skin I still have a mark on one eyebrow. Three strikes, you're out.
Save your money and go somewhere else.

They are very money hungry. Ripped me off for $20 when I bought a gift card and the manager couldn't understand why I would be upset about it.

I also found the manager to be very rude. Guess it explains why so many people find the staff rude too.

First of all, you posted a review for Edgewater Spa, on Spa Ahava's reviews. They are different spas. Second of all, you were not ripped off. You bought a gift card for $100 and were given a gift card for $100.Then you found out that you could buy a $100 gift card at Costco for $80. You then called asking for a refund of your gift card (which we do not offer) or for us to honor the same deal that Costco has(which we do not do either). You were the rude one, not our staff or manager, because you did not get the answer that you wanted. You hung up on the Manager. Not offering a deal that another company is selling is not unethical business. What Costco sells has nothing to do with what Edgewater Spa sells. Next time you post a review, make sure you explain the whole story and not just print a few words to make it sound like you were "ripped" off, which you were not. You were the crazy, screaming, ranting customer on the phone who did not give us a chance to even speak, therefore how could we have even begun to be rude. I will not tolerate a bad review because you did not get your way.

Went here for the first time and received the best wax. I have been to many spas and this was by far the best value! Will return again and again....

I recently met the President of the Edgewater Spa Group which owns Spa Ahava and Edgewater Spa. When I mentioned some of the negative reviews contained on this site he said that they were disappointed - especially since they have determined that at least two of the reviews were published by sources that are not exatly unbiased. One was from a competitor and at least one was from a former disgruntled employee. He said there was not much you can do about this type of immature behavior so they try to ignore these actions and move on. He reiterated that both Spas remain commited to providing first quality service to their clients.

I note that Spa Ahava, once again, has won the Consumer Choice Award, so this speaks volumes as to their real reputation. Well done!

I go to Spa Ahava all the time. (I tan there). I find the front desk people to be fantastic. Since I'm there a lot I have heard some crazy people. Like the lady who lost her gift card and was mad at the receptionist. Ummm.... isn't it your gift card that you lost?, or the person that wanted in for an appointment the next day but they were booked, and got mad at the girl for not having an opening. I also heard people get mad at the front desk girls for not being able to find parking, or because the traffic was bad so they were late and were mad. Seriously I find that people just need to blame someone when it is their own fault. Just because they are just a receptionist, don't treat them like that. Own up to your own mistakes people. This is a great place. I think the people that have complained on here are the ones that have more problems than just this. Lovin Spa Ahava always. Kim

I do have to say...when phoning to enquire about services offered...I found the receptionist to be unfriendly...the reception is front line to a spa and how that person treats a customer will make or break you. I did however find the lady doing the service to be excellent...but she did look at her watch several times...and like other comments..wasn't the two hour deal that they advertise...was an hour and a half...so you should really take notice of the comments...a common theme is the reception!

I too was at Spa Ahava on December 23rd, which in my eyes was a pretty busy day for the staff at the front desk. There was a line up right to the front door, I am assuming for gift cards and other items. I knew it would be busy that day but I wanted to come anyways. I'm not sure what the previous lady was hearing, but I heard the staff say "how was your service" to every single person in line, and they all said "Merry Christmas" in unison to every single person in line. I guess at this time of year, there really isn't time to sit and chat to every single person, but they definitely were not rude. I would say they handled the line up like pros. My treatments were amazing and I will definitely go back. Maybe this lady who commented was having a bad day at Christmas time. Scrooge!!!!

I have gone to Spa Ahava several times over the years, and I have to disagree with the previous comments. I have found the staff to be nothing but professional, the facility to be clean and the prices excellent. I work in an appointment based business, therefore I know that once you are done one person, then you have another one right after. Never have I expected to be able to sit around in the room after the service was over, or expect that if I ask for another treatment that they can do it. Isn't this why we make an appointment. They have a perfectly good waiting room to sit around in after if you want to. And come on people, if you get a pedicure in the winter, you have to wear sandals home. There are no other options. You can't fault them for that..... it;s just common sense. I've never been left sitting and waiting for my appointmetn nor have they ran over, which for me is good, I'm busy and need to be done when they say I will be done. Obviously people forget this is a day spa and not a spa in a hotel. Two different things. How can you fault a locally owned business for being booked, and wanting to get the next person in at their appointment time. I couldn't beleive the comments. Try going somewhere that lets you sit for a half hour and then does you treatment in half the time. Believe me, I've gone to some pretty shady places in Saskatoon and this place is not one of them.

I was pampered with a spa pedicure and manicure complements of hubby. The actually experience during my chosen indulgence was relaxing and enjoyable. The spa is tastefully arranged and clean, a great importance to myself. My package was supposed to be about 3 hours. It lasted almost 2 hours and felt a rushed.
What was a relaxing afternoon was quickly turned into anything but when told that there was no way to dry my pretty nails and I would need to walk back to my car parked 5 blocks away in minus 45 degree weather in my flip-flops. They do mention drip dry on their service menu, but come on minus 45 degrees. I waited around a while in hopes that it would dry a bit. In my desperate attempt to get to my car without frostbite I was left with an ugly mess. Now out a hundred dollars and seriously in pain from the cold I was miserable. Won’t ever go back and have told all my friends and family not to either.
