I like to deal directly with Rob. He is an absolute pleasure. There have been a number of times he has had the guys fix small things and then decided not to charge me anything. On one major repair we had, the factory hoses would have cost a lot more and created a delay. Instead, they created a custom hose for me. I'm grateful for their years of support and glad to have them here in North York.

my father went in to get a tire changed and the mechanic did not tighten the lug nuts and tire flew off! nothing was done subsequently to rectify any costs further, my windshield is scratched from wiper blades that I was assured was proper for my car. It tore within weeks. nothing was offered to rectify this.

I used to in the same business as Principato. I've been out of the business for a few years and searched for a shop I could trust, like my customers trusted me. Rob Principato and his team are exactly that.

I own two vehicles and he has done all the service and repair work on them for a few years now. Every time they diagnose, then give me a price and only after I agree do they proceed.

He has never hit me with "surprise costs" or tried to raise the price. nor has he come up with repairs that weren't necessary.

My most recent dilemma was my radiator had developed a leak. After a lot of shopping around Rob gave me the best deal by far.

So as far as I'm concerned he runs a straight business and gives people a fair deal. I recommend him to friends and family and they all say positive things as well.

I needed to get my exhaust repaired, I checked Principato's quote and it was nearly identical to a quote from a muffler shop. I took my car in in the morning and Principato's had it fixed by that afternoon. Very happy with the service.

Principato's is your typical mechanic shop that takes advantage of women and the elderly.

The recommend services which are not needed and do a low quality job when required. They will charge for repairs that they did not do and come across very intimidating when the services are denied by the customer.

My wife went into Principatos to have work done on our Honda Civic. The Service Bill had items that were not agreed upon in which he swore up and down that he completed. Upon taking the vehicle to my other mechanic, it was clear that he did not do any of the work he was billing us for.

When we went back to him for an explanation, the owner gets very vocal and intimidating towards women especially and refuses to answer any questions as to why the work was not completed.

After arguing for about 20 min, one of his mechanics came in and said that he did not do the work but forgot to take it off the bill. Even when the mechanic mentioned that the work was not done, the owner still would not credit us but rather threatened us verbally and threw the keys over the counter towards my wife.

I am surprised no one has made any formal complains towards this business.

I would personally never go there again and would highly suggest that no one ever trust this mechanic would your vehicle.

This is a fraudulent shop and a complete rip off.

The whole family takes the cars here- the small cars, the luxury car, the diesel car, the old car - Rob takes care of it all. Always a fair price and in a timely manner, and a phone call if something unexpected comes up. The staff are all great at explaining what exactly is or isn't wrong, and if I can change something myself or fix the way the car is being driven. They were helpful when I was looking to buy a new car and was exploring different options - gave me advice that changed my purchase slightly (recommended that I don't install an aftermarket sunroof, so if I wanted one, get one made with it) - and knowing little about cars the help was much appreciated and I found a great new car. All round great dealership and I never hesitate sending people to them.

I read this one review and had to add my own. I have lived in Willowdale for over 10 years and have three vehicles to service. We buy and trade-in and so over the years I've been to a lot of places. So far, Principato's is the best. Saved me money, fit my schedule, drove me and my dogs home, etc. I suspect the bad review is from someone related to one of the other places closeby! I doubt any Principato yelled at a customer. Bushings exist and so I suspect you were being played.

I took my Honda Accord in to Principato's Auto for a routine maintenance inspection. There was an option to service my brakes, but I asked that this ONLY be done if an inspection of the brakes indicated such a requirement. When I later returned to pick up my car, I was charged $170 ... FOR NOTHING! That is, Joe informed me that they had serviced the brakes, along with all other required inspections, AND gave me a list of more work needed to be done on my car, including something called 'rod bushings.' In exasperation, I brought my car to Green and Ross for a second opinion; upon inspection, they assured me that, at the very least, my brakes had not even been touched at all, and that there were no such items as 'rod bushings' on my vehicle, and that the other listed requirements on my receipt simply did not apply!! I then returned to Principato's Auto to ask Joe to somehow compensate me for all this, and he YELLED at me, telling me I was too late. Bottom line: DEFRAUDED.
