York Street Public School, Ottawa Reviews (3)
Hi,
I attended York Street School in 1968-1969. I was in Mrs. S. Mason's 3rd grade I left Ottawa. Remember almost everything. Mr. A.M. Esdon was the Principal at that time and I believe he replaced Mr. Forest. I Visited Ottawa in 1985. No one was there except for Industrial Arts teacher, Mr. Tweedie(hope I spelled it right). He was never my teacher as no Industrial Arts for IIIrd graders :) . I remembered him because his classroom was next to Ms. McGilries ESL class in the basement. Told him of few events of 1968/69. He was happy. Revisited Ottawa with my wife in 1991. This time, no more Mr. Tweedie either :( . To make the long story short, if anyone remembers or knows Mrs. S. Mason, can you please forward her information to me. Thank you.

York St School is fondly called "The Castle". This year (2012) marked the 90th birthday of this lovely building. The children represent many countries and contribute to a rich, multicultural environment. Last year the grades 3 and 6 EQAO scores rated among the highest in the province. There is a Parent, Family Learning Centre in the school that reaches pre-school aged children and their parents. The atmosphere in the school is warm and welcoming. A great place for any child.
If you are looking for a small school for your child with warm teachers and multi culturalism this is a great little school . The grade 8 class has only 40 students which allows for more hands on learning with the teacher and the opportunity to form positive strong bonds with class mates. It is a great school that gets down to old fashioned learning.
