Sunrise Montessori School

My son has been attending Sunrise Montessori School since he was a baby. He is now in the Casa program and have nothing but good words to say about this school. He has learnt so much over the years and have become self sufficient with regards to self care. He was potty trained in the Toddler class while also learning how to change his shoes, put on his jacket and eventually zipped up his coat. Academically, he has learnt all of his phonetic sounds to the point of reading short phonetic words. What child can read at 3.5 years old?! He is also doing addition as well. Socially, he is great with all of his friends and teachers. He has built such a strong bond with all of his teachers . The administrative staff are also great, very accommodating and pleasant. I would definitely recommend this school to all!

This FAKE Montessori is horrible. Children are verbally and physically abused. Teachers are never watching the children. Accidents are always occurring and with the owner apologizing repeatedly and reassuring lies. Food are leftovers. Owners are only about their money.

They reuse leftover food for the kids. The bathrooms are always dirty. My child complained that they do not even have anything to dry their hands with. The administration has the teachers cleaning bathroom and then working with kids immediately after. This is not sanitary.

-My child is always in a different room when I go and pick her up after school
-Too many changes of the teachers
-Teacher quality is low, they don't speak English, I hear teachers speak Mandarin to each other most of the time
- my kid comes home and tells me she always get bumped around to different classroom, instead of staying in the same classroom, I'm guessing it's because they're trying to fill up a class
- I've seen teachers get sent home
Too many negatives to write, I can go on forever

Great customer service. I can honestly say they can sell the school and service well plus school is always clean.
But why this school was not for me.
1. teachers kept changing around from room to room
2. new teachers all the time
3 . my child's things are always missing
4. my child is always getting into accidents and no teachers can give a reason why it had happened.
5. Food menu is a joke. They eat the same almost every week. And i have heard they saved food if not finished.
6. not enough serving my child is always hungry
7. teachers do not speak well English
8. teachers are rude and forceful to children. i have witness grabbing and pulling
9. too many pa days. but subsidy children can come in on those days and not paying clients???
10.teachers seems busy cleaning and working most of the time
11. teachers are not friendly, there is one especially and is super rude and jumpy
12. every evening during pick up the school looks like a mess and my child is always in another room
13. washroom floors are always wet
14. i hear teachers complaining
15. you have to pay holidays and pa days and days you go on vacations. why am i paying if school is closed??
16. Door code is a trouble
alright i can list more. but i hope this helps many parents.

they are all for show. if you are not there, they are not by the book. head teachers are always roaming around leaving your children with assistant teachers for most of the time. so, if you have questions about your kid, assistants know more.

I have been sending my daugther to Sunrise since she was 16 months old. She just turned 2yrs and can count to 10 and knows her ABC's. The school is very structured, the teachers are very helpful and the School is open until 6:30pm which is a HUGE bonus. The principle/V. Principle are also very invested in the growth of all the students. Yes! they are many fundraisers, but i think that's a great way to bring parents, teachers and students together.

Great Location (Amber street in Markham)
Priced Well in comparison to other schools.

Positives:

- Thorough and practical curriculum
- Great location
- Great staff, friendly and caring
- Very flexible and accomodating for various types of arrangements

Cons:
- Over priced school uniforms
- Facility occupies 5 units of an industrial area which are not all connected
- Frequent fundraising pressures
