Van Walleghem School, Winnipeg Reviews (1)
No issues with the school curriculum itself. Teachers are nice. School park is beautiful. However the never ending asking for donations is extremely annoying from this school. Each student is asked to pay for "equipement fees" of $50.00/year. In additon, students are asked to bring 3 big boxes of kleenex/yr. My child forgot to bring a spoon one day. Went to the office and was told they had none. The students are not benefiting what so ever from the money parents donated to the school. All field trips are paid by parents. Parents are asked to supply food for each holiday celebration . There is a fee charged for each child to stay in school for lunch, supposedly pay out for adult supervision. Yet there are classes such as grade 2's only being monitored by 12 & 13 year old students who are not paid. So where are all the donated money & the so called student equipment fees going to? Obvious not to the benefit of any children in the school. The school ask for money for : numerous walkathons, the terry fox, the hat day, unicef x2, Halloween candy donations (in exchange for money from an orthodontic office), christmas donations etc. One has to wonder who is in charge of the money collected and where is it going?
