Randy Cartwright and the current GM are running that place to the ground. Staff is treated horribly. Staff are always looking tired and over worked. Filled with immigrants that gossip none stop. Residents are given free range to do what they please (disrespecting staff included) if you wanna go on vacation it’s unheard of unless you find someone to cover your shifts which is hard because the turn over rate is very high. They only pay minimum wage not a cent more. NEVER work for Barrhaven Manor.

This is not the place for your parents, if they are suffering from memory loss or other issues. While the director makes promises, and pretends to listen to concerns, in the end, she is sorely lacking in properly managing a business such as this. My Mom, who was having great difficulties with her mind, and was slowly declining mentally, walked out one day and took herself and another resident who suffered dementia to the local police station. I found out when the director phoned me after the incident, to tell me that what had transpired. The director would always give me a "She is fine" diatribe whenever I called with concerns. (I live outside of the city). I would hear something completely different from the nurses, who were so compassionate, kind and TRUTHFUL in their assessment. I had POA, and the director was told that another family member had already tried to gain POA for financial reasons. Less than 10 days after my Mom was assessed as not capable of making her own decisions, said family member got a newbie lawyer and had my Mom sign him as POA. The director never called and I found out 2 months later. I had to phone the director and ask if this had transpired and her first reply was "I don't know". When she checked the files, she "found" the new POA. Again, the nurses are lovely and do their job so well. They are the ones that you do need to speak to and NOT the director, should you have concerns at this residence.

The servers at Barrhaven Manor need a union and new management. The servers are getting paid minimum wage after the manor was purchased by Riveria. The servers are supposed to be making $13.50. The turn over rate at the manor has sky rocketed ever since Jennifer Hess started running it. Jennifer Hess is a vial money hungry low life who treats the servers (who are kids) like garbage. The servers are also waiting for there BACK PAY when will someone from THE UNION speak to them about there raises????? I'm sick of witnessing this.

When my daughter worked in the dining room
of Barrhaven Manor she came home stressed and crying after every shift she had in the dining room of Barrhaven Manor. The supervisor Rekha treats the servers like garbage and so dose the manager Jennifer Hess. My daughter along with the other servers are constantly being under paid which is disgusting. (I heard that the more money rekha saves the bigger the bonus she gets at the end of the year.) Rekha is knows for randomly crossing out hours on the servers time sheets (hoping they won't notice.) When the servers confront the manager Jennifer Hess about there pay (they all make minimum wage) Jennifer is nothing but rude. Those two women should ashamed of there selfs.

The dining room at Barrhaven Manor has been running exceptionally smooth after the former supervisor Rekha left. The servers look stress free and happy along with the kitchen staff. My husband and I dreaded dining with our father until our most recent dining experience at the manor. The new supervisor looks young but he is doing a very good job. I hope he will be staying for the long run.

I visit barrhaven manor frequently over the past 3 weeks and I am delighted to say that my dining room experience was amazing. There is a young man supervising the dining room now and he does a great job, the prompt service, his ability to diffuse situations, and his respect to each of the residents and staff are admirable. He serves each resident with a smile, even though there are many who are highly demanding, and clearly too many people to serve per server. It's great he goes out of his way for them. The food is average but our service made our stay more enjoyable.

Coming from someone with 13 years of experience as a dining room supervisor I was disgusted by the way the servers are treated. I recently dined with my mother at the manor and my heart broke for the servers. From the pushy supervisor (who is always giving the severs shit) to the ungrateful residents I finally understood why the manors turn over rate is so high. I couldn't help but notice some residents complain about the food to the dining room supervisor, instead of diffusing the situation in a clam manor I watched a young server get yelled at and be littled. After seeing that I would not recommend dining at the manor.

I dine with my Mother on a regular bacis at Barrhaven Manor. The food and service is excellent. Chef Angelo really knows how to season and cook food well. The servers are always very kind along with the nurses. My Mother always raves about the manor. I always have a plesent expierence there. I would highly recommend this manor for your loved ones.

My mother stayed at The Barrhaven Manor until my husband and I moved to a larger home that could accommodate her living with us. The day we took my mother home, she was sad to say goodbye to the helpful staff and caregivers, but was thrilled to not have to eat any more of their food. Having dined with my mother a few times, my husband and I knew exactly what she meant by that statement. The Restaurant at The Barrhaven Manor does not know, or understand the concept of a fresh, tasty or healthy. Everything we ate was overcooked or and tasted the same day in and day out. It is as though the only seasoning used is salt, garlic, bbq sauce or a combination of the three. These people need to recognize that it is not only the care we are looking to have provided to our loved ones, but a healthy balanced diet. I would not suggest this home for your loved ones.

I stayed at the Barrhaven Manor for a respite after my surgery. The Home is under new management and you can really see the difference. The food was wonderful and tasty and they were able to accommodate my diet. The nurses were kind and cheerful and there was always something to do. Overall, I found the staff to be very helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a retirement home.

The food is deplorable. The chef has never heard of fresh fruits or vegetables. Food is either over cooked or barely cooked. The food servers are taking the brunt of the complaints about the food. The manager is no longer there, so maybe the place will be run better. The staff are all very young, and the turnover seems to be high. Many of them are not too happy about working there, and it reflects badly. I feel sorry for the residents. I would not recommend Barrhaven Manor.

Staff are very caring and friendly. Management are another story. The manager of this establishment over bills and is rude. It's scary to think of how many seniors are being over billed here. The food was OK in the beginning but deteriorated after the first week and my family member actually gave up eating requesting food from outside. Would not recommend leaving a loved one here.
