As a student here in Ottawa, Zak's is basically THE place to go. One month into my studies everyone on my floor went at midnight, just because it's open 24/7. Their peak hours seem to be around 3am, when the bars close and people want a late snack.
The staff is amazing, they're very laid back and cool about everything. The food is cheap, 15 bucks gets you a meal and a drink, and the milkshakes are absolutely amazing. If you try anything from Zak's, make sure it's a milkshake as they absolutely cannot be beaten.
All in all, I would definitely recommend Zak's to anyone looking for a place to hang out, but it's not the best place for a romantic dinner.
