Swiss Chalet, Guelph Reviews (2)
I usually like Swiss Chalet but I struggle with this location. My husband and I went this past Tuesday (07-09-2013) with our 3 kids for dinner. We were seated right away but told immediately that they did not expected the dinner rush so they were short staffed. Our orders were taken fairly quickly but it all fell apart soon after.
We waited an eternity for food to learn that the printer 'sent it somewhere else' (what does that even mean?) so essential they just put our order in again. They offered comp appetizers but we just settled on buns for the kids so they'd still eat their supper. The meals were finally dropped off without any condiments so I took ketchup from the empty table next to us and waited while my chicken got cold for some chalet sauce.
Plate collection was equally slow and they offered us free dessert at that time but I declined (we were full) and said the chocolate eggs that come with the kids dinners would be fine. I watched a group of 4 adults, who arrived at least 30 minutes after us, leave 30 minutes before us (and they at least had 2 courses). When our bill and eggs failed to show up, I took the kids to the car while my husband waited inside an additional 10 minutes. We left with no bill discount, no food voucher to ensure our return yet my husband still tipped (wth?)
I feel bad because I had to convince my husband to eat here despite coming another time when I had to reorder 3x because they were out of everything --- including chicken?!
Think I've thrown in the towel this time.

Unfortunately I have never enjoyed the food at this locational though I have tried many times. I have now given up. The food is usually cold and the last couple of times I had chicken, it looked like it was from a seriously old chicken. They were small and falling apart. Very badly prepared.

Swiss Chalet's unique, cripsy rotisserie chicken was inspired by a secret Swiss recipe, discovered by founder Rick Mauran, from Monteral. Today, the rotisserie - a large open-flamed overn that slowly roasts the chicken in its own juices so it's crispy on the outisde and tender and juicy on the inside - is still at the heart of every Swiss Chalet.
