I am a fourth ave regular and I decided to bring my two children to the Glendale location as we were in that part of town. Lets just say I was disgusted, an older gentlemen with grey hair which appeared to be a manager took our drink order and then sent our server over. She was polite and nice at first as the manager brought us our drinks she then took our food order. Our food was then brought by someone else and never once did she come over and check on how our food was or asked to refill our drinks our my 1/4 chicken dinner came out pinky and cold my kids were not offered a dessert or even a toy out of the treasure box. I can't say ill ever come back to that store or recommend it to anyone

So my daughter and I go in and we are seated ... mabey five other tables in the entire rest .... we waited 10 min for our server ... ordered and another half hr ... I see our waitress bring out an order and bring it down the opposite side of us to a table at the end ... I see her drop it and walk to the farthest back area in the room and for a couple min I can see her doing something back there , Im just about fed up at this point and Im saying to my daughter lets get out of here when she starts comming up our aisle towars us , one table away she kinda throws up her hands and mumbles something as she turns heel and heads back to the end of the row on the other side where a few min before she dropped her last order I see her say something and pick up the plates she dropped off before and she starts heading towards our table .... and if you can believe this she set the food down in front of me and my daughter !!! Im like you have got to be kidding me !!!! Im like you had given those other people our food ... not sure why they said nothing and not sure if they touched it and didnt really care at this point!! I was so disgusted by her actions and baffled by her lack of understanding I asked for the manager ... in stark contrast he was very understing and very nice ... when confronted in front of her boss she blatantly lied and said she never gave our food to another table !!! I was shocked ... things happen and I understand mistakes ... u admit and move on ...I can accept that ... what I find hard to accept is a liar and as a lifelong server myself I cannot ever imagine pulling a stunt like that on a customer !!! the owner manager was very understanding and he comped us 2 free meals with his sencerist appologies ... I was happy with that ... people make mistakes for me it is how they are handled in my books that is most important. I have been back.

My husband and I went here for dinner tonight. After being seated for over 5 minutes, our server finally came over. By this time, we had decided on our entire meal, so we ordered our entire meal at this time. My husband ordered a Caesar to drink, as well as a Caesar salad for his appetizer. Our server left, and returned a couple minutes later because he was confused because my husband had ordered two Caesars...we had to explain to him again that one was a drink and one was a salad. We then waited almost 15 minutes before we actually recieved our drinks. The salad and other appetizer (spring rolls) came out shortly after the drinks, and they were well made. Then the main course came out. We had both ordered ribs, myself the 1/3 rack, and him the 1/2 rack. Not only did the ribs look a sick beige color, but we had the exact same number of ribs as eachother...the equivalent of 1/3 rack, yet he was charged for 1/2 rack. Our meals were supposed to come with coleslaw, and when our server brought out our food, there wasn't any. I asked if our meals were supposed to come with coleslaw, and his response was "Oh yeah, you're right". He came back with the slaw. He then left quickly, and returned with the dipping sauce he suddenly realized we should also have recieved. We then had to ask for more napkins since we ordered ribs and he had taken away our napkins when he cleared away our appetizers. In my opinion, when someone is about to eat something as messy as ribs, common sense should dictate that napkins should be autimatically brought to the customer.
Overall, the food was just okay. We certainly won't be going back. Much better food can be found elsewhere for a much better price, and with much better service.

We tried this new location shortly after it opened, and the girls at the door clearly hadn't been shown what to do if more than one table came in at once. Not a problem. Opening glitches happen. Our server wasn't quite as attentive as we'd come to expect at a Swiss Chalet, but again we wrote it off as the staff being new. We said we'd go back after a couple of months and give it another chance.
Tonight was that chance, and we were even more disappointed. The young girls at the front were just as unorganized and flustered as the first time we went. People stood around with no particular system seeming to be in place. They seemed overwhelmed by only about 4 tables worth of customers.
When we were seated, our server took our drink orders. He repeated mine back to me to double check that I indeed wanted lime, not lemon, in my water. He returned with lemon. It happens. Not a big deal if it's the only oversight. The coffee he nearly spilled on my husband was more of a concern, but went totally unnoticed by our server.
When our dinner finally arrived (it took much longer than one would expect for a Swiss Chalet franchise), I was in the washroom. When I came back out, I noticed that my plate was rimmed with grease, fingerprints and some sort of crusty substance that resisted wiping. It took a long time to get our server's attention, but when I explained the problem he didn't seem keen to remedy the situation. Instead he asked, "So, do you want another one then?" as though eating off of the filthy plate was an equally valid option. I tried to assume I'd misheard, but when he repeated the question, I declined any replacement. By that time my family was half finished their meals.
The manager asked us to please come back and ask for either himself or the owner, who would personally take care of us (and gave us vouchers for a free chicken dinner), but we shouldn't have to have a special server in order to get good service. I think we'll just go back to going across town to get our Chalet fix. This one was far better when it was still at the Pen Centre.

Swiss Chalet's unique, cripsy rotisserie chicken was inspired by a secret Swiss recipe, discovered by founder Rick Mauran, from Monteral. Today, the rotisserie - a large open-flamed overn that slowly roasts the chicken in its own juices so it's crispy on the outisde and tender and juicy on the inside - is still at the heart of every Swiss Chalet.
