This was, without exaggeration, one of the worst diner experiences I’ve ever had.
I ordered a veggie omelette and simply asked for two extra egg whites. To my surprise, I was charged almost $12 extra for that request. Charging nearly $6 per egg white is absolutely unreasonable for a neighborhood diner. When I asked the manager about it, I was told that this is their normal pricing, which honestly made the situation even more disappointing.
The food quality was just as bad. The home fries were completely burnt, not just crispy. They were black, bitter, and barely edible, as you can clearly see in the photos. I showed them to the manager, expecting at least an apology or a replacement. Instead, I was told that “it’s hot outside” and that these things can happen. I’ve worked in restaurants myself, and that’s simply not an acceptable excuse for serving food in this conditions.
The service was equally disappointing. Our server never came back to check on the food, ask if everything was okay, or even notice the obvious problems. There was essentially no quality check throughout the meal.
Between the burnt food, the unreasonable upcharges, the incorrect order, and the lack of professionalism from both the service and management, this was an incredibly poor experience from start to finish.
Unfortunately, I won’t be coming back, and I can’t recommend this place to anyone expecting decent food or customer service.

Today my friend and I were looking for an all-day breakfast spot and randomly found this place.
I can honestly say it turned into one of the best experiences we’ve had, and we will definitely be coming back again.
At first, I wanted to order the Salmon Benny, but the Steak Benny caught both my friend’s and my attention, so we decided to try it instead. The steak was cooked exactly the way I asked — fully cooked but still tender, juicy, and delicious.
The hollandaise sauce was absolutely amazing: creamy, rich, and full of flavor. The Benny also came with salad and fries on the side, and both were really tasty.
For dessert, we ordered the Nutella & Banana Pancakes, and the chef — who I think was the owner — kindly treated us to them, which made the experience even more special.
Lastly, our server was incredibly kind, warm, and friendly. Highly recommended!

We were looking for an all-day breakfast place in the area when we came across this spot, and we’re so glad we did. From the moment the food arrived, we were impressed by how beautiful and appetizing everything looked. The presentation was honestly perfect, and you could tell a lot of care went into every dish.
We tried the steak Benedict and the banana Nutella pancakes, and both were absolutely incredible. The steak was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, while the Benedict was rich, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The banana Nutella pancakes were easily one of the best sweet breakfast dishes we’ve had — soft, fluffy, generously topped, and not overly sweet. Every bite tasted fresh and high quality.
What made the experience even better was the amazing customer service. Our server was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming the entire time. The chef, who we believe was also the owner, was so kind and even treated us to the pancakes, which made the experience feel extra special.
It’s rare to find a place that delivers both outstanding food and such warm hospitality. This is definitely a spot we’ll keep coming back to, and we can’t wait to try more from the menu. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an amazing breakfast or brunch experience!

Came to this lovely diner for brunch and really enjoyed the experience! The space Mars theme was nice and unique. We tried the Mars Grand Slam it was a 7/10, sausages were just okay. But the Mars Mountain was amazing, and the portion size was very generous and the hollandaise sauce in it was a standout, easily a solid 9/10. The house fries were a bit too much for me though. The Oreo milkshake was incredibly creamy and absolutely amazing!!!!!!
On top of that, the staff were super friendly and welcoming. Definitely coming back again!!!!!

Hands down the best old-feeling dinner in Midtown Toronto. I would give it 10/10 points...and I would be falling short. Food is delicious (their home fries are to die for ! 🤤), I tried several of their dishes and I can tell food is always fresh and deliciously cooked to perfection. I think the cook happens to be the owner also, which is a plus, as he truly cares about the Customers and maintains a high level of standard of everything that is being prepared in the kitchen. The serves are all super nice and attentive, and always make sure that your glass of water and mug of coffee always stay full, and that your meal arrives to your table hot and in a timely fashion. When it comes to the look 'n feel, if you like the 80's, then you are gonna love this place: This dinner seems to have stood still in time, with soft music for the 80's always ringing in the background, and a decoration that brings you back to that fantastic decade of our lives. To sum up, I strongly recommend Mars...this place is a hidden gem and I wouldn't change it for the world.

So, I love Mars for classic western breakfast foods (eggs, bacon, etc). Their home fries are my favourite hands down. But the non-breakfasts foods are lackluster. Especially if you order deliver. I got the roasted beef sandwich which was described as house roasted beef on a kaiser. I was sent what looked like dog food on a bun. It tasted a lot like canned soup and i'm skeptical if its actually roasted beef. No mention of gravy/sauce. The order was delivered within 20 minutes if not sooner but was already cold and soggy. Very big disappointment as they are not a cheap restaurant. Salad was good except for all the bell pepper but thats just preference.

One of the best diners out there. Tried the Spanish Omelette and Southwest Benny. Both were utterly gobsmacking. Will definitely visit again.

Classic diner experience and we loved it! The wide selection of well prepared food served by a friendly server. We had Avocado Toast served with two perfectly poached eggs and we had an order of Toast, Eggs, delicious hash browns.
I would (and will!) return for lunch or dinner sometime soon.
Great restaurant!

Had the early bird special that goes till 10am. 2 eggs, home fries and 4 slices of toast! Cannot beat that deal. They use good quality eggs and cook the potatoes with rosemary and onions. Fast friendly service, nice old school diner vibe but still very clean. Definitely will be back

The Mars is a family-owned, locally owned restaurant with excellent service and a breakfast that's impossible to dislike.
It's located one block from the Eglinton subway station and close to bus stops. It doesn't have its own parking lot, but there are public parking spaces on the street.
A tip for those visiting on weekends is to arrive early, as due to the variety of items on the menu, the restaurant is usually busy and ordering may take a little longer.
The service is excellent, always attentive, patient, and caring.
The menu offers a wide variety of items, but the most popular items are usually marked with a red star.
The prices are good and well worth it, as the portions are generous.
Unfortunately, Mars doesn't have adequate facilities for serving customers with disabilities; The restrooms are located on the lower floor, requiring the use of stairs. The aisle between tables is narrow, making it difficult for wheelchairs to access. There's no Braille menu, and there's no automatic door.
The restaurant doesn't have a patio, so pets are unfortunately not allowed.
It's worth a visit, and you should definitely try the variety of items on offer.

This diner was recommended by a shop we were visiting in the area. Turned out to be one of the best lunches I’ve had in ages. Fabulous fried chicken and French fries! The milk shake in the next booth looked delicious. Wish I’d had room for one. My husband had a chicken sandwich and I had the Ruben. Both terrific. Service was warm, friendly and attentive. Just a world class restaurant in an unexpected place.

We came across this great diner while staying in our airbnb in Toronto.
We loved the old school American Diner decor.
The service was great ! Coffee was good just how we like it and refills were quick to be served.
Although not very hungry we chose the soup which was delicious! We will be back for a proper meal the menu is great!!
