I love this school. Exquisite instructors, a supportive and encouraging environment and a welcoming community. Both myself and my 4 year-old daughter attend classes at NKS High Park. All the sensei are wonderful with the kids. Jeff and his team have achieved a perfect balance of maintaining the integrity and discipline of Karate while keeping classes fun and interactive. For anyone - of any age - interested in learning martial arts, I can't recommend this school highly enough. Joining NKS High Park is one of the best decisions I've made.

Not typically one to write reviews, but I had to make an exception.

Northern Karate High Park and Sensei Jeff Barrett have been transformational in my daughter’s life since she began training at age 7. What started as karate lessons has evolved into something far more meaningful, supporting her growth in ways we never anticipated.

Sensei Jeff’s impact extends well beyond the dojo. Years ago, when I needed guidance on discipline and life lessons, he was there as a trusted mentor and ally. His investment in his students as whole people, not just martial artists, sets Northern Karate apart from any other program I’ve encountered.

The physical skills my daughter has gained are impressive, but the mental and emotional benefits have been equally powerful. Training in such a supportive, positive environment has built her confidence, discipline, and resilience in ways that carry into every aspect of her life.

The student teachers deserve special recognition as well. They’re exceptional role models who embody the values Sensei Jeff instills. The culture of mentorship and mutual respect creates an atmosphere where kids genuinely thrive.

Northern Karate isn’t just where my daughter learns karate, it’s where she’s learning to become her best self. I cannot recommend Sensei Jeff and his team highly enough.

Both of my kids (ages 4 and 7) attend Northern Karate School High Park and we love it! The teachers are skilled, patient, and genuinely great with kids. I was looking for a new physical activity, and my karate friends recommended the dojo, and came with me to try a class. It was fun, challenging, and the vibe was instantly welcoming, even from other students.

I got hooked immediately. I planned to train three times a week and ended up going almost every day. Classes are tough but an absolute blast. It's serious work done with great attitude.

Sensei Jeff, our head instructor, is aware of my past injuries and current level. I feel I can push myself with confidence cause all sensei are all looking out for your safety while pushing you to get better. all of them have so much experience and really know their craft. They provide tons of direct, personal feedback and encouragement. Da best.

The community is legit. Everyone is incredible supportive, motivating, and genuinely happy to see you improve even as a clueless white belt. Couldn’t recommend it more for adults starting karate.

A great karate school with a wonderful atmosphere. The instructors are amazing - supportive, motivating and with a great sense of humor. Children are accepted from a very young age - my daughter started at 4 years old. Kids stay focused and active from the first to the very last minute of each class. Perfect for building strength and endurance.
