Earl's Restaurant - Mississauga, Square One
So I read a Toronto Life write-up about Earl's Restaurant. It is a western Canada chain that originated in Calgary.

Last year, it opened up its first eastern Canada location at Square One in Mississauga.

What piqued my interest in the article was that Earl's was always packed and that the chain was renowned for its pretty wait staff.

I made a mental note of that - and decided that I would check it out the next time I was in Hazel land.

Anyway, the Toronto Life story was dead on.

I just happened to dine there on the evening of Earl's one-year anniversary party. The place was rammed and it was hype. I'm not sure what the music is like on a regular night, but when I went it was primarily hip hop and R&B. On this occasion they also had a DJ.

There were a lot of tables buying bottle service - WTF? Mississauga? Square One? DJ's and bottle service? Who would have ever guessed...

And yes, the wait staff were very pretty. Look out Moxie's, you no longer have a monopoly on the most attractive chain restaurant staff.

Oh yeah, the food...

Well, it was your typical chain fare. I would say it's definitely at the same level of a Milestone's and Moxie's. Definitely satisfying and mildly creative, but not an epicurean revelation.

We sat in the lounge area - so we just wanted to eat typical bar offerings. We ordered wings for appetizers and had the burger as a main. The wings were slippery and saucy - nothing spectacular. I did like the burger though - it was both flavourful and filling.

We did enjoy the pitchers of beer. The least expensive one was only $16 a pitcher. It was pretty good - but hey, anything in a frosty glass tastes good.

Overall, we actually had a good time there. I won't hesitate going back there next time I'm in town.
