Fern Resort, Orillia Reviews (1)
I have such wonderful memories of this place. I went to this resort about three time when I was little, with my grandma and my sister. It was a fantastic place for all of us. There were all kinds of activities for all ages so it was perfect for my grandmother and myself, as well as for my sister who is eight years older than I am.
The best memories I have are of the medieval dinners they used to serve. For one evening, you would get dressed up and create a fake name for your groups castle. Everyone would meet up in a huge dining room and you would be greeted by a king and queen. There were many festivities and forms of entertainment, like jesters and music. The king and queen would make audience members do silly things for them and you had to comply. It was awesome for me because I got to become a princess for the evening, even getting my own pointy hat. The interesting part was that we had to eat with our hands... no cutlery allowed since it was not available at the time. Also, salt, pepper, butter... it was all shared between tables so you had to ask around. It was a blast for a 6 year old kid.
The resort also had amazing treasure hunts that resulted in a huge pot full of chocolate gold coins (at least that is how i remember it), and other family activities like magic shows, animal shows, and bingo nights.
For the parents, the best part of the resort is that you can bring two children for free! You can't get much better than that!

Searching the web, I've come across some mixed reviews. Some people say it has lost its charm while others swear by it as the best family vacation spot. Oh well, no matter what, I will always have wonderful memories!

sounds like medieval times meets club med!
You knocked me off the top spot so soon! But I guess this place sounds pretty awesome..I would like my own pointy princess hat. I have to assume mine would be purple, with gems on it.
