We quite literally stumbled upon The Frederick during a Toronto one-night getaway. We went on an evening stroll and decided to stop in for a drink and something light to eat for a later dinner. We are SO glad we stopped in, we’re still talking about it days later. Josh and Liam, our servers, took the best care of us. Knowledgeable and just delightful to chat with.
Not pictured was the house-made molasses bread which was some of the best bread we’ve ever had. My salad was fresh and light and perfect for what I was in the mood for. My partner got the seared tuna bowl which was exceptional. I’d get that next time for sure. We shared a bottle of Sicilian wine, something recommended by Josh who totally nailed our taste preferences.
We sat out on the patio on a gorgeous summer night, the music they played was great too. Just every detail about our time at The Frederick was perfect and we have found our new “family dinner” spot when we’re back in town.

Came here with my colleagues for lunch. The atmosphere was welcoming. The restaurant was very busy and crowded during the lunch hours but we were still able to have a comfortable conversation without feeling overwhelmed by the noise.
What stood out most to me was the attentive service here. Several staff members checked on our table throughout the meal, served our food promptly, and made sure our water glasses were always refilled.
The food was good though. While it didn't leave a particularly memorable impression for me, the overall dining experience, service, and atmosphere made for an enjoyable lunch.

I took a friend here for her birthday and we had such a fantastic time!
Everyone was so nice and friendly, it was a great environment!
We started with the zucchini and dip and we loved both, but if I had to pick one, it would have to be the zucchini. Our server was so awesome and attentive, she noticed we ran out of tortilla chips so she gave us more. The dip stayed warm for a very long time too, which I appreciated.
The ribs were so good, they were fall off the bone and I really enjoyed it paired with the fries. We got an additional side of mashed potatoes as recommended by our server and it was so buttery smooth. I liked the crab cakes with the crisp on top. Kind of reminded me of a bird’s nest. The rigatoni was fantastic. The menu noted that the pasta was made in house and that’s always a plus for me! I enjoyed everything I ate.
We had hungry eyes and ordered way too much so we only had some room for ice cream which concluded dinner very nicely.
I’ve been to The Chase before and was looking forward to The Frederick, but now I like The Frederick better! I would come back and try other things on the menu!

It was the perfect way to end a fantastic holiday in Canada(visiting from Edinburgh). Amazing service, delicious food and cocktails, without a doubt Freds Pie is THE BEST dessert I’ve ever had!

From the moment we walked in the customer service is exceptional—every staff interaction feels genuinely attentive and top tier. Brianna and Amber were warm, attentive and really eager to help with menu and drink selection.
The space is stunning, with a spacious, beautifully designed interior and patio that are upscale yet inviting.
Happy Hour is absolutely worth it. Tried Buttermilk Fried Chicken with dill ranch sauce outstanding, the Avocado & Sweet Pea Dip was fresh and flavorful, and the Bigeye Tuna Tartare was incredible! Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared.
Cocktails were equally impressive. The Blackberry Bloom was well-balanced and the Rail Spirit Vodka mix was smooth. The Frederick is a standout Toronto restaurant for happy hour, combining excellent food, refined cocktails, and exceptional service. Easily one of the top spots in the Financial District.

It was an okay experience overall. I had high expectations based on the great reviews, but we were slightly disappointed. On the positive side, we received a very friendly greeting when we arrived and when we left. For food, the burger tasted good, though the bun was a little soggy on the bottom. The pasta dish was cold when we received it, while the flavor was good, for that price, we expected more. The service was also a bit odd; our waiter only came to the table once, and then we had multiple different people bringing out the food, drinks and the bill.

What an incredible experience from start to finish. The service was exceptional—Cillian (apologies if I’ve misspelled his name) was an absolute standout. He was knowledgeable, personable, and created such a welcoming atmosphere. Truly one of the best servers I’ve had in a very long time.
The food was just as impressive. Every dish we ordered was delicious, with great flavors, perfect temperature, and beautiful presentation. Nothing missed the mark.
The space itself is thoughtfully designed and adds to the overall experience. And it wasn’t just our server—the entire team was friendly, attentive, and made us feel well taken care of.
Highly highly recommend.

What an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in we were greeted with such warm and welcoming service. Kaitlyn greeted us and was so friendly. She gave us a tour of the upstairs as we had no idea it was a separate restaurant. Our server was also so fantastic! He was so attentive, gave us good recommendations, and was just so kind. The attention to detail was so appreciated. The food and drinks were absolutely amazing. The pasta was one of the best I’ve had in the city. The fried chicken is a bestseller and I can see why. Everything was delicious! This place stands out because not only is the food insanely good but the service is stellar. This is how I want to be treated on a night out. It’s not like other pretentious places in the city where they immediately make you feel rushed when you’re seated with a 2 hour limit. Wish I could give it 10 stars! Will be back for sure.

Overall: 8/10
The place was super nice. I really liked the ambience and the vibe, though it was a little too noisy for my taste.
I tried:
• Warm Spinach & Artichoke Dip (8/10): This was tasty and amazing.
• Crab Cakes (6/10): This one was good, definitely not shareable and to be honest, the price is crazy for the amount of food you get.
• Steak Frites (8.5/10): The steak was seasoned super well and tasted really good. The fries were good, but they had something odd about them, maybe blue cheese on top? I didn't love them too much.
• Coconut Tres Leches Cake (6/10): We shared this and it was kind of dry. It felt like they forgot one of the "leches" in the cake.
The bathroom is downstairs and the stalls are individual and clean (7/10).

This place is busy, and I can see why.
The sharable starters were amazing dishes. In order of my favourite: the buttermilk fried chicken, the zucchini fritti, tuna tartare, and fries.
The starters were so filling that between the three of us, we could only eat one main dish and two desserts after 😆.
We ordered the Pappardelle & Braised Beef Cheeks main and it was sooo good. Meat was so tender.
Probably the most exciting and different item though was the Coconut Tres Leches Cake. They pour the sauce fresh at your table, so your cake isnt a soggy mess and i swear i tasted roses lol. It was so light, not too sweet, and just an incredible mix of flavours. It also paired very well with the vanilla ice cream.
The washrooms were individual rooms with a lovely fragrance.
The atmosphere/decor/seating is very nice but unfortunately it can get a little loud if you're seated next to a rowdy group.
My only real complaint of this place was when it came time to pay. You had 3 tip options starting at 18% and the 4th option was no tip 😵. Where on earth did the option to change tip amount go?! An 18% tip is what I would expect for a party group.

I dined here last Friday, and I had a fabulous experience! The meals my friend and I ordered were delicious! The food was of excellent quality and well prepared. We were also impressed with the wide variety of elevated choices. We received top notch service by our server Shahid S.! He put in the effort and time to answer all our questions about the menu and different dishes with enthusiasm and care. He offered us great advice and was an integral part in making our experience that much better! I’ll be going back again soon!

The service was friendly and accommodating, which we really appreciated. One thing to note is that the scent at the front of the restaurant was quite strong—possibly overwhelming for guests who are sensitive to fragrances.
We started with the tuna tartare, which was delicious. I especially liked the endive chips as a lighter, healthier option, while my husband enjoyed the traditional chips—so it worked out perfectly for both of us.
For mains, my husband had the ribs. They were very tasty, though the sauce leaned a bit too sweet for our preference. I had the sea bass, which was nicely prepared and enjoyable.
For dessert, we considered the lava cake but were told it would take about 20 minutes. It would be helpful if servers mentioned this at the beginning of the meal so guests can plan ahead.
Overall, a lovely experience with thoughtful service and enjoyable dishes, with just a few small areas for improvement.

Had a fantastic experience at Frederick. The shrimp salad was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the buttermilk chicken was absolutely to die for—perfectly crispy and seasoned. A special shoutout to Luke, our server, who was simply outstanding. Friendly, attentive, and made the whole dining experience even better. Will definitely be back!

Loved my first experience at The Frederick! The staff is super friendly and attentive (even though the place was packed). Cocktails were amazing with just the right balance of mix. As for food we had the Frederick Rolls and BBQ spiced half roasted chicken which was cooked to perfection.
I personally prefer speakeasy restaurants, the music volume was just at the right level making it easier to communicate.
Overall, we greatly enjoyed the experience and the service was outstanding. However, I was uncomfortable with the mandatory minimum 18% tip, as I believe tipping percentage should remain at the customer’s discretion.
