Unfortunately we had a dinner reservation after this spot. Otherwise we would have ordered a lot more. It was amazing though. Sat in the back area and got to talk to the main chef. Cool experience

Came here for lunch and the food was amazing. We had the grilled broccoli ceasar, hamachi aguachile, roasted chicken with rice, steak and mashed potatoes and kaya toast. Will definitely come back!

Came here on a whim last weekend not knowing much about the place, it is now on my favorites list.
Short Turn is a narrow and cozy spot which looks like it would be claustrophobic, but somehow isn’t. It balances the comfort of a diner with the elegance of a bar lounge to create quite a unique feel.
For drinks we ordered Pancake Manhattan and a non-tequila version of the Tequila Sunset. My wife really liked the idea of the Tequila Sunset, but hates tequila; the staff were more than happy to accommodate this bizarre request and they did so beautifully. The whipped OJ is just delicious and the drink came out perfect. My Pancake Manhattan was complex and warm, beautiful for sipping on the cold, wet weather we had. It was so smooth and kind of tasted like an alcoholic Werthers candy.
I also got the Char Siu Bolo Bao Brekky which could probably cure the worst of hangovers. Every part of the sandwich was super delicious, even the last couple bites of plain bun at the end.
Extra shout out to Adrian who added just a little extra to our visit. He was extremely helpful and brought a great energy to our experience.

Stopped by for a couple of drinks and it was an okay experience overall, but not one that really motivates me to return anytime soon. I had the Chinatown Special cocktail and it was fine, though it missed the mark for me. When I order a cocktail, I usually look for balance and a sense of intention, where the flavours and texture come together in a way that feels harmonious and easy to drink. I didn’t quite get that here. The ginger came through very strongly and felt overdone, which made the drink taste heavy rather than refreshing. It would have been interesting to lean more into the savoury notes from the other ingredients to balance it out, but as it was, it was unpleasant for me.
I ordered fries to go along with the drink, partly to offset it. I don’t recall the menu mentioning that they were thick cut, so that was a bit of a letdown since I was expecting thinner fries. While they were crispy on the outside, the centres had an odd texture that felt off to me, almost like you could tell they had been frozen at some point, which affected the structure of the potato. They were also on the dryer side so the ketchup definitely helped. Overall, nothing was terrible, but nothing really stood out enough to make me want to come back.
The place is smaller and we were seated at this long bench where you have a small table between two people and you sit beside each other. I think this would have been fine if the rest of the experience with the food and drinks were better. It’s an interesting experience looking at the bar right in front of you though for the time you’re there.

I promise the food is just as good as it sounds on the menu.
The cod pasta dish was so creamy and flavourful. The broccoli Caesar is tough to not inhale. My favourite by far was the mushroom shawarma. That was unbelievable and I’m still thinking about it.
The space is really tight and I feel like really ideal for groups of 2. 4 of us were at a table and it was really uncomfortable.
I will definitely be back and I’ll be trying 416 snack bar too!

The new menu is 🔥🔥🔥 loved all the dishes we ordered, especially the black cod laska, char siu bolo brekky, and sausage. Very flavourful and creative dishes, and not too heavy or overpowering!

Intimate, but lively cocktail bar. Would recommend if you’re looking to grab a few drinks and light bites on queen st W. loved the music selection and admired the interior design with wood finishes contrasting the stainless steel bar. Retro but modernized. The narrowness of the place does give the illusion of being in a train.
A range of cocktails provided. The server was knowledgeable and attentive in helping me decided which one to start with. Offering a different take on your classic cocktail with an infused seashell martini available and many more. I’ve had dinner prior but couldn’t help but notice the food menu. I ordered the chicken liver mousse brioche. It was everything you could want. Sweet and savoury in one dish. I enjoyed it so much I ordered a second. Would recommend paring it with a glass of white.
Came for a cheeky lil cocktail, stayed for the chicken liver mousse brioche. Definitely will be back to try more of the dishes.

Cute small bar combined with 416 snack bar. Small menu. Their freeze martini is good. Pretty strong.

Second time here and what else can I say other than this place is fantastic. They changed some of their menu since I had gone earlier in the year and I always love when I find new drinks I love even more than the first time. Their take on Vietnamese coffee (with alcohol ofc) is a contender for one of my favourite drinks in the city, and their martini means business. Their food is great, the spot is cozy and the service is exceptional (they explained every drink very well). I’ll be back!
