My partner and I were visiting Toronto for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We were walking around our first night in the Dundas district looking for a place to eat. We turned on Ossington and found La Cubana.
I loved that they had a small menu with great drinks and cocktails. They even had a Hemingway Daiquiri cocktail.
The service was fast and unintrusive. The prices were affordable and the food arrived quickly and still hot.
I definitely want to return to try their cocktails.

I remember La Cubana from many many years ago, and I remember loving it. However this time back, it didn’t deliver the same feeling.
The Cubano was ok, quite greasy and I couldn’t eat a lot of it.
Not sure there’s anything else on the menu that will make me a returning customer unfortunately.

A cute vintage diner-esque restaurant downtown. The outside patio seating is incredibly nice during the fall and summer.
We got the Short-rib BBQ and Chicken sandwiches and they were quite filling (though the chicken sandwich is nothing too special compared to a regular chicken burger).

Came in for happy hour. Meal was really good but staff was hustling! Even though they were grinding out orders the two servers were super nice and attentive as much as they could be.

My friend Bruce and I decided to check out OssFest for the first time this year. It runs every year on Ossington Avenue, from Dundas Street to Queen Street. The weather was sunny, hot, and humid — perfect festival weather!
We took transit and started at the north end. It was already very busy, with lots of patios, restaurants, and a young, energetic crowd. Many places had tables set up right on the street and were selling beer and cocktails outside — they must have had special permits for the day.
Bruce and I wanted a bite to eat but preferred to sit inside rather than out on the street. We settled on La Cubana — luckily there was no line, but only one table left! The restaurant is small, with little tables along the wall and a couple of cozy booths for two on the other side.
We both ordered the chorizo burger — my first time trying one, and it was absolutely delicious. I paired mine with a cold Cuban beer, while Bruce had a juice and added a side of red cabbage. Everything was so tasty. For dessert, we shared a key lime pie (one of my favourites) and some donuts with a butterscotch cream — a perfect sweet ending.
The service was friendly and welcoming, and both bartenders were lovely — they looked Latino and added to the warm vibe of the place.
All in all, I really enjoyed my first OssFest and my meal at La Cubana — I’ll definitely be back!

We found La Cubana by chance while looking for a quick bite, and it turned out to be an incredible experience. We shared the ham and cheese croquettes and yuca frita as starters – both were delicious. For mains, we had the pressed Cubano sandwich, pulled pork medianoche, and the Guava BBQ beef short rib plate. Everything was flavourful and well-prepared.
The place has a nice 1950s Cuban vibe with traditional Cuban music playing in the background, making the experience feel authentic. The classic sides like tostones and congrís rice were the perfect complement to our meals.
The service was quick and attentive. I highly recommend La Cubana if you’re looking for a true Cuban experience in Toronto.

Had a great time here , the atmosphere is nice as well as the music the only downfall was when the phone rings it goes through the whole sound system and promoting happy hour with no beer and then the beer just arrive 6pm felt suspicious but it’s whatever. The food was delicious and I will definitely go back. The TOSTONES and I enjoyed their Cuban Mango Habanero Hot sauce.
Finally visited this small, atmospheric Cuban place at Ossington and oh boy I wish I did it sooner. Best Cuban sandwich I had (and yes I tired them in Miami). Great food, great service good prices. Highly recommend for quick bites and drinks!
Loved our visit to La Cubana! We tried the roast beef sandwich, pressed ham sandwich, and the beef burger. The first two were absolutely delicious, packed with flavor and perfectly made. The burger was decent, but the sandwiches really stood out. The black bean soup was a highlight! so hearty and flavorful. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making the whole experience even better.
Absolutely worth the wait!
The restaurant was quite busy and we had to wait in line, but it was totally worth it. The food was absolutely delicious, high quality, and reasonably priced. The waitress was very friendly and attentive—even though she was working alone and it was hectic, she managed everything so well. Our food came a bit late, but she kindly brought us complimentary drinks as an apology when we were leaving.
I really enjoyed the food and the cozy decor. I’ll definitely be coming back!

WOW, saw La Cubana on the Food Network so we made the trip into Toronto on Sunday and we were not disappointed! Such a cool, authentic, old school Cuban dinner vibe, music, great cocktails and the food was AMAZING! The CUBAN MEDIANOCHE, Corn Frituras and Grilled Fish Sandwich were off the hook good! Great service too!
The place is cozy and well located, but it is really expensive and is not authentic Cuban food. We ordered take out and were disappointed when we tasted the food. Yes, it was pork, rice, beans, yuca and tostones, but nothing tasted as Cuban food. We are not planning to go back.
I really wanted to like this place and enjoy it but thought the food was pricey for the amount that you got. I will say my Cuban Sandwhich was good but would have liked a little bigger portion
The cubano medianoche was a great little Cuban sandwich on a super soft and fluffy bun. The short rib plate had a good chunk of relatively lean short rib on a dark, almost mole sauce, with super delicious rice and beans on the side, and fried plantains that were good though a bit dry.
Food here is really good. The aesthetic is also quite nice. Great place for lunch. The price is a little expensive however.
