Wood burning technology has come a long way in the last few years, stoves of today are efficient, using 2-3 cord in a typical season, burn cleaner than natural gas with the secondary burn cycle that injects air into the smoke causing it to continue burning 99% of the smoke before it enters the chimney eliminating scary chimney fires and smelly exhaust, and extra work because EPA approved wood stoves use much less wood. In fact when the appliance is properly operated there is no smoke what so ever exiting the chimney.
