From the founding of their first business, Retread Tire, by Art and Janie Kluttz, the family has grown and adapted to changing markets while maintaining a strong commitment to quality and service. They expanded from one bay and one office into one of the top retreading operations in the nation, serving North and South Carolina, and Virginia. After navigating industry shifts like NAFTA in the '90s, Art and Janie evolved the business model by launching Locust Tire & Car Care, adding mechanical services and car care. Upon Art's passing in 2000, Janie, with the support of her sons Mike and Chad, ensured the continuation of the family legacy. In 2010, Mike and Angela Kluttz launched Kluttz Wholesale Tire, which has become one of the largest used tire wholesalers on the East Coast, recycling over 500,000 tires annually. In 2014 Janie Kluttz retired and sold Locust Tire & Car care.
