This place is amazing! I had the best bagle with lox here! The food was fresh and delicious. The staff were friendly and efficient. It was super busy but the line-up went fast. We ordered and sat down, the person who brought out our food was so friendly and joked with my very young nieces - it was such a warm and welcome environment. I am looking forward to going back!

My fave place to buy lox (they even make a pastrami lox, wow), have a solid bagel sandwich, and chat with a local St. Clair West celebrity!

Fish is smoked in small batches, the whole process is done in house and you can really taste that quality and care in the product.

You just know Lev is mindful of ensuring quality throughout every ingredient used in the shop, through their passion for only having tomatoes on the menu when they're in season. No bland, disappointing tomatoes found here.

Maybe unexpected for a bagel and lox spot, but Lev also makes really great little cakes and cookies. Once I had a blueberry buttermilk doughnut that I still can't forget about, it was unbelievable fluffy.

There's also a new slush machine, the Orange Creamsicle one was so good – the flavours do rotate!

Gluten-free bagels are available, as well as a vegan option (no fish on that one of course haha).

Be sure to check out their Instagram for both the daily specials and updated hours for the week.

And the Academy Award goes to Lox & Schmear!

Wow, just absolutely wow. I heard great things about this place. but I had absolutely no idea how amazing the food was until I tried them for the very first time today.

Nestled along trendy hipster St. Clair Avenue West lies a very cute and welcoming place call Lox & Schmear and they are serving up some of the best bagels, cream cheese, capers, pickled onions, to elevate the star of the show the great SALMON!

Once you walk into Lox & Schmear, you are immediately hit with this sweet smokey aroma.

I ordered The Fancy Fancy because that's just what I am Fancy Fancy 🎭

The bagel was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside
The cream cheese, along with the capers, tomato, cucumber, pickled red onion, alfalfa to give it that extra unique crunch, fresh dill that accompanied the lox was an explosion of great flavors!

The lox is so sweet and smoking at the same time.

Yum! It was probably one of the best things I've ever eaten!

So, if you're in the neighborhood, you have to give this place a try. Such friendly and inviting staff!

The bagels and lox are out of this world! 🏆

I got the fancy fancy on an everything bagel. Despite getting an everything bagel, I didn’t get a lot of poppy seeds. The thing that really struck me was how juicy all the fillings made the bagel. They were all delicious. However, with the amount… the bagel unfortunately didn’t really hold up as it was too small and toasted to hold everything in. Still a pretty good bagel, though.

I may not be a bagel expert, but the taste and quality of the fish from this place is overtly super high-quality. The lox inside has such a velvety, luscious and smooth bite that brings a slight chew, and just the perfect amount of salinity that seasoned the entire bite with its accoutrements. The bagels are sure to not disappoint, as they carry the St. Viateur name with it. They're famous for a reason as they take on a delicate crisp on the exterior when toasted, while preserving an airy and fluffy interior. The everything bagel has an aromatic coating of garlic, sesame and poppy seeds around, with a distinct sweetness in the dough itself. The cream cheese portion is generous but doesn't overwhelm the lox, mellowing out the saltiness of the fish. The red onions, capers and fresh dill are also well-known best friends of salmon, and they have their place in each bite.

A perfect bagel & lox experience.
This place is only open 3 part days per week and is worth visiting.
In-house smoked fish is a true delight. The scent from the process is very welcoming and is available for take away.

Homey neighborhood bagel place that serves tasty Jewish-fare with a smile. We got the salmon, cream cheese, and dill on sesame, and it was quite delicious. The smear was creamy and light, while the dill gave the sandwich a kick of freshness. Their bagels were made Montréal-style (from St-Viateur, I believe). For those that dont like fish, however, the lox is a bit on the fishy side. Overall, a great bagel place if you're in the area!

Lox and Schmear is a small-batch fish smokehouse. Their lox (smoked salmon) is hand-sliced, never frozen, and smoked in-house.

I recently came to this neighbourhood gem and tried their veggie bagel, and was surprised by the size. The quality was good, and the veggies were fresh. The menu offers several sandwich options and specials that are served on Montreal-style bagels (sourced from St. Urbain bagels), and gluten-free bagels are available. There is also merchandise you can buy.

No wait on a weekend morning. Seating options inside and outside. Service was quick. Washroom inside. Only open Friday to Sunday. Catering available. Street parking available.
