It was National Shawarma Day, October 15, 2025 and Wanas Shawarma was my absolute favourite of three shawarma places we went to for $5 deals! I was also happy to be first in line and got two chicken shawarma Syrian style wraps. It was so delicious! I love the square saag bread and the pomegranate sauce which makes the juicy chicken taste even better! It’s authentic Syrian style and I love it!

Service was fast and friendly. It’s a narrow entrance but thankfully it wasn’t a long line up at 11am. We ate on their small front patio. Highly recommend this place for one of the BEST shawarmas in Toronto!

We stopped by Wanas Shawarma and had such a great experience. The food was fresh, flavourful, and truly authentic — I highly recommend the Chicken Shawarma Arabic Style Plate, it’s fantastic. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and went out of their way to accommodate us (we even had kids with us and they made everything easy). Great food and genuine service — we’ll definitely be back!

Wanas Shawarma is hands down one of the best shawarma spots I’ve come across, everything about the food is perfect. Their style is authentic and serious, and you can taste that passion in every bite. The Syrian shawarma is the star of the show, juicy, flavorful, and wrapped with just the right balance of garlic sauce, fries and pickles. The attention to detail is remarkable, especially with the tarboosh on top, which adds that final touch of authenticity and flair. It’s honestly shawarma done right, and once you try it, it’s hard to settle for less anywhere else.

That said, the only drawback isn’t about the food at all, it’s the parking situation. Since the location is downtown, finding a spot can be hectic and inconvenient, which takes away from the otherwise flawless experience. For a place that serves shawarma of this caliber, I genuinely think they should consider opening another branch in an area with more accessible parking. It would make it so much easier for people to come in and enjoy without the hassle.

All in all, Wanas Shawarma is excellent in every way when it comes to food, and I can’t recommend it enough. If they expand to more convenient locations, and hopefully to Durham, it would easily become the go to shawarma destination for even more people.

If you’re strolling through Greektown and craving something hearty, flavorful, and authentic, Wanas Shawarma on Pape Ave is a spot that deserves your attention. It’s a cozy little restaurant that delivers big on taste, bringing the flavors of Syrian shawarma right to Toronto.

I tried the chicken plate and the saj wrap, and both were excellent. The chicken plate came with tender, juicy chicken that was perfectly marinated, paired with rice, fresh salad, and that addictive garlic sauce everyone loves. The saj wrap was equally impressive—thin, light bread filled with smoky chicken, crisp veggies, and a drizzle of pomegranate sauce. That sauce was a game-changer, adding a unique sweet-and-tangy note that made each bite stand out. It’s not something you find at most shawarma places, and it really sets Wanas apart.

The restaurant itself has a warm, casual vibe, making it perfect for either a quick bite or a relaxed sit-down meal. The staff were welcoming and attentive, adding to the positive experience.

Sauces, toasty , chicken packed delicious and wrap. They are very generous with their toppings. Their space has room for dine in and is clean . One of the Top shawarma spots at the moment !

It was our first time eating here looking for lunch around the area. And my goodness, this is the best shawarma place I've tasted, and I've been in many shawarma places in Toronto, this is it. I mean, the quality of the food, the quantity is the perfect amount of meat, the way the food was wrapped, the sauce everything.. I mean everything about it is 10/10!

I am a picky eater and preferred something strong with a spice because of where I am from. This place is also focusing on their hygiene while they are making the foods !

Had dinner at this shawarma place last night, and it honestly took me right back to the flavors of Syrian shawarma back home. The meat was perfectly seasoned, the garlic sauce was on point, and everything tasted fresh and authentic. On top of that, the service was excellent—Nawras and Tarik were both super friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to!

The chicken wrap Syrian style is delicious and up to their reputation. Even the hot sauce is good. The mix platter is good as well but heavier, and the pickled turnips have some weirdly bitter flavor. Seating is limited. Staff is very nice and efficient.

Very friendly service, everyone was kind. I felt immediately welcomed. Restaurant was clean and comfortable to eat our meal. The chicken was a tad dry and the rice had an interesting taste to it. I was a bit disappointed to find the potatoes were actually just French fries with Cajun seasoning on them. Very generous with the sauces which was nice.

The absolute best Shawarma in the area. I had to stop eating to make this review it was so delicious. The spicy garlic potatoes are an excellent addition!

🥘☕️ This place specializes in Syrian cuisine, we got the beef and chicken platters which were made fresh and tasted amazing.

🕑 The hours are 11 am - 12 am which is pretty cool if you ever have a craving for a Syrian meal!

🌿✨️ There are some seatings for this place but it gets packed pretty quickly.
