My father and grandfather were both surgeons, so I had an early exposure to their work and always knew this was what I wanted to do, too. As I gained more experience, I realized my area of interest was in plastic surgery - specifically, post-mastectomy reconstruction. Every woman's story is unique. Listening to each patient's story helps me deliver a care plan for reconstruction that meets their specific needs and helps them feel whole after the process. My approach to patient care took root during my medical training. We were immersed in cura personalis, the Latin phrase that means "to care for the whole person." I spend as much time as I can with each patient to ensure they have a care plan that's safe, thoughtful and addresses their concerns. I serve on the women's committee for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. I'm also a member of the North Carolina Society of Plastic Surgery and a member of the breast leadership committee. My time outside work is largely focused on family - my very supportive husband and three amazing kids. We love exploring western North Carolina as a family, which includes my parents who relocated to Asheville. I enjoy running with buddies, reading and being outside as much as I can.
