Since early childhood, I knew I wanted a career in medicine. At first I was not sure if my medical career should center around people or pets. At the age of eight, I decided that snakes were much more terrifying than people. That solidified my decision to become a doctor. \n Family medicine and sports medicine are truly the perfect fields for me. They allow me to establish long-term relationships with patients of all ages and navigate their comprehensive health needs. I get to see the entire spectrum of athletes, from recreational athletes having fun with friends to professional athletes whose careers depend on their fitness. I encourage my patients to stay as active as possible and remind them that it's never too late to get in shape. When a 70-year-old adult comes to me wanting to engage in a new exercise program, I do everything I can to encourage as much physical activity as is safely possible. I want to be their cheerleader and their partner in good health. \n I work to stay active in our community while helping our community stay active as well. I am proud to be the medical director for the Carolina Courage professional women's soccer team. I am also the team physician at Middle Creek High School. In both of these settings, I deliver the care athletes need to minimize injury and stay in the game. \n My three amazing children and my wonderful husband get nearly all of my time and attention outside of work. We love to ski in the winter and boat in the summer and attend all sorts of sports together year-round. As a former collegiate soccer player, I never imagined myself being an all-star cheer mom, but I love it! I also enjoy watching my son play baseball and ice hockey, and look forward to his band concerts. In my spare time, running is my passion; I completed my first marathon in 2015, and have continued running ever since.
