I was born to Nigerian immigrants and raised in Mansfield, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. At the University of Miami, I was a neuroscience major in college with minors in chemistry and exercise physiology. I moved a little closer to home as I completed my medical school at Baylor college of Medicine before going out west for residency training at Los Angeles County University of Southern California. Throughout my training I have worked with vulnerable populations as an Albert Schweitzer Fellow in medical school, where I helped create a program for homeless young adults, and in researching outcomes of incarcerated pregnant patients while in residency.
