At Imburse, we built a payments platform for global insurers, but most of our resources were spent maintaining platform services rather than innovating. Like many companies, we found only 8% of time went toward creating new features, a problem costing the $1T software market $920B annually in inefficiency.
When I joined DuckCreek after Imburse’s acquisition, the problem became even more apparent. Teams were trapped in maintenance mode for years, with innovation stifled by platform complexity and compliance challenges. It was clear the system was broken.
