I see there are two Leon-Sits in Edmonton and I am hoping that I am rating the older of the two. I have an autoimmune disease that sometimes kills and if not leaves a lot of collateral damage in it's wake. I was referred to Dr. Leong-Sit (the older) by my rheumatologist as I was having a flare and my eyes were involved. I have an aquaintance who lost her sight because of granulomas growing on her optic nerve and I was having the same symptoms she was before losing her sight. I was referred to Dr. Leong-Sit so that we can do an MRI (the only way to see if there are granulomas causing problems) and proceed as needed. I drove for five hours into the city for my appointment through the worst snow storm in history - horribly stressful experience, especially since I was already very sick at the time, to get to the Royal Alex Eye Centre and get treated like a five year old by his lackies and then him. I was not told that I would have my pupils dialated, which made for some funky driving. I told him the issues and he rolled his eyes at me. I asked about the MRI, and he told me he doesn't have the requisition from my doc, which I gave to the hospital upon admitting for my appointment, to which he told me it's not his fault????? So he looked into my pupils and told me there is nothing wrong that he can see. I told him that I know that as I was at an optometrist a few days earlier (for which I didn't have to drive through a five hour hell storm) who did the exact same thing he's doing. I thought I was getting sent to a specialist, which turned out to be the most frustrating appointment I have had - ever. I have had the unfortunate privellege of seeing many doctors in the last two years and this was by far the worst. It was a money grab with absolutely nothing to back it up with. It seems to me that he has been in the business too long and is just waiting for the day he can retire, because it was obvious that patient care is nowhere near his list of priorities. If you want good care and someone who will listen to you without rolling their eyes, and not blame you for his staff's inadequacies, do NOT go see this doctor. Worst experience ever. I think there might have been steam coming out of my ears when I came out of his office, as I had to get childcare for two days, drive in and out for a total of 10 hours on the highway, and see a total putz, who knew less than I did in this particular case. I'm sure he still doesn't know Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis.
