The old adage, The best defense is a good offense, is one close to my heart. As a former Division 1 athlete on the Eastern Carolina University men's basketball team, I look to take a purpose-driven, team approach to healthcare that focuses on prevention. If I can work with my patients and my colleagues to prevent the dangers of chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, I can lead my patients to a better quality of life. I want my patients to know that their physical and mental wellbeing is my top priority. \n To say my medical background is varied is a bit of an understatement. I have training in specialties including cardiology, nephrology, endocrinology, infectious diseases, hematology/oncology, gastroenterology and psychiatry. I saw internal medicine as a way to use knowledge from each of these fields; I can treat many things, and I know when my patients need to seek help from a specialist. \n I proudly come from a large Nigerian family, full of medical professionals. I am the oldest of five kids. My father, two uncles and one aunt are doctors, and one brother and one sister are entering the medical field as well. When I am not working, I love to work out, play basketball and cook. I am also interested in learning Spanish.
