Barbara Duarte Esgalhado, PhD Barbara Duarte Esgalhado, PhD, is a licensed psychologist specializing in the treatment of chronic and terminal illnesses, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, depressive and mood disorders, generalized anxiety, and grief and bereavement. Dr. Esgalhado has a dedicated focus on immigrant and refugee mental health, LGBTQI+ health and wellness, positive aging, and substance use. Dr. Esgalhado earned her PhD from Columbia University in New York. She furthered her expertise in the psychological assessment and treatment of survivors of human rights violations with Health Right International and in the treatment of chronic and terminal illnesses at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Center in New York.
