I'd been going to this pharmacy for a number of months and had had fairly positive experiences.

Unfortunately, my most recent experience with a faxed prescription has dragged out for over two weeks and still not been resolved. The first time I called to check the status of the prescription (about a week after I phoned in the request), I was told that they'd been faxing a doctor's office on Upper Ottawa (not the correct office), even though they had previously faxed several prescriptions to my doctor. I calmly corrected the mix-up and reminded them of the street and town my doctor's office was located in. They said the prescription would need to be refaxed to the correct address. I was out of medication at this point, and it was necessary for me to advocate in order for them to advance me a week's worth.

Towards the end of the week, I called again. After being put on hold several times while they searched for my prescription, I was told that they'd found it, and I could pick it up. I went in three days later to pick it up and was again told that they had no record of it. At this point, I expressed frustration at the continued confusion and long delay (without being rude or raising my voice). At no point did anyone apologize to me or offer to do their best to address the situation. The solutions that were offered to me were to "call far ahead" of my prescription running out next time ( I'd called a week ahead) and for me to bring them the fax number for my doctor (which the doctor's office requires the pharmacy to obtain). It was fairly clear to me from the defensiveness I encountered that staff felt I was being unreasonable, despite the mistakes that had been made and the time that had elapsed.

I had been a long time user if Shoppers Drug Mart and so I guess I'm spoiled. They seem disorganized at this store and therefore takes them a long time to fill a prescription. I am seriously thinking of going back to Shoppers

I have been a customer at this parmacy for 20 years and at one time I was on the methadone program and I was never a herion user, I got hurt at work and was placed on pain killers and got addicted to them so for the lady that said that meth is only despensed to herion user you should really look into things like meth and why its givin out to people before you open your mouth about things you know nothing about. And as for the parmacy itself, the workers are great women and they do the best they can, its a clean store, and well maintain.

I was at this location yesterday to pick up some stuff for a wicked cold I have. I was astonished at the number of, well, let's say "less desirable" people milling about in front of the pharmacy. There was a major lineup (also made of up of some pretty funky looking people) at the pharmacy counter so I asked one of the checkout clerks which aisle the cold stuff was in. When I checked out at the cash I asked the clerk what the lineup and all the people out front was about.

Methadone clinic. This is the methadone dispensary for heroine addicts in Hamilton. Wonderful.

No-Frills. Family Discount Store. Dollar Store. National Bank. And a methadone clinic.

That's the last time I shop at this place, and I'll be sure to give it a wide berth whenever I'm shopping at any of the other stores.

You'd think they'd have some sort of staggered dispensary times or some other sort of system where they wouldn't have so many of the patients (if you can call them that) all there at once. What a nightmare. It was pretty obvious by looks on the faces of some other shoppers going to and fro in the plaza that I wasn't the only one a little put off by the large methodone treatment population milling about waiting for their dose. The operators of this store need to be called to task on the way they're managing this, which I'm sure is a government-funded cash-cow for them, smack dab in the middle of a high-density residential neighbourhood with churches and schools all over the place.

What a mess.
