Bedrock Kennels Ltd

The website for this kennel looks amazing, which is why I chose to board my dog there. However, I should have paid more attention to the fact that my dog's vet (located a 10-minute drive from the kennel) did not even recognize the name of this business. The owner is a brusque, unpleasant woman to deal with. It seems to me that often, people who work with animals 24/7 have very poor "people skills". I didn't care, as long as my dog was well cared-for...but her abruptness did leave a worried feeling in my gut when I drove away from the place. When I picked up my dog, they brought him out to me on a choke chain; I didn't like that. I also didn't like seeing another dog, who was housed in the same building as my dog, wearing a coat for warmth (are their buildings not heated?). Apparently the sign of a good kennel is that the dog is reluctant to go home with its owner; my dog was very anxious to get in the car and go home (in fact he whimpered with anxiety all the way home). I'm the kind of person who relies on my gut instinct, so while I didn't find any evidence of mistreatment at this kennel (and the staff, other than the owner, are pleasant people who shower the dogs with affection), I personally won't be using their services again.
