Aptco Appliance Sales & Svc

After my washer broke down on the weekend, I contacted the manufacturer first thing Monday morning to see if there were any recommended service centres in my immediate area. They gave me Aptco's name and contact info and I called them to see what they could do for me. Given that the problem was likely an electronic one and would probably require a specialised part that they'd have to order, I wasn't expecting much more than an initial service call, however at least the wheels to get my washer fixed would be set in motion.

As it turned out, the best they could do was "sometime on Wednesday," which seemed reasonable enough at the time. I explained to the person who took my call that this was agreeable, but that I'd have to take a vacation day off of work if they couldn't provide me with a more concise timing (which they couldn't). I was assured that a technician would come over and, taking them at their word, I booked the day off. I also made a few other service call arrangements to deal with some other projects I had on the go so that I could get the most out of my "vacation."

In any event, by 3:30 p.m. I still hadn't heard anything from Aptco and called to see what the scoop was. It was at that time I was informed (by the same woman I spoke with on Monday) that their technician was running four calls behind and probably wouldn't make it over. I was then casually asked whether I'd be at home the following day for yet another unspecified/come-by-chance timing. After reminding her that I took a day off of work to meet their original appointment schedule and that taking a second day off wasn't in the cards, I was curtly told that she'd have to see whether the technician would be willing to work overtime. She then ended the call and, as she already had all of my particulars, I presumed that she would at least have the decency to provide me with an update. Needless to say, she didn't and this review is my way of thanking Aptco for their stellar customer service.

In short, while I understand that stuff happens and that it isn't always possible to get everything one hopes for, common courtesy goes a long way in the service industry. While this firm appears to do a decent job fixing appliances (based on the previous reviews, anyway), as far as I'm concerned they're not worth the effort of a second chance and, after losing a day's vacation, I'll gladly take my trade elsewhere.
