I have an older home with a brick and mortar foundation. I had reached out to over 5 different foundation repair companies. I was ignored/ghosted by two. The third person said I would need to lift up the house and completely rebuild the foundation, costing over 100,000, and they weren’t helpful with my questions or concerns. The fourth one was offering an option that after researching wasn’t the right thing to do for a house that was the age of mine. Abarent Construction took the time to provide me with detailed recommendations, without fear mongering. I felt for the first time that I was being heard. I can’t recommend their company enough and look forward to working with them in the future.
This is our second time working with this company (different houses). Knowledgeable, understood our old house foundation and how to work with it. Highly recommend them!
Had an unusual situation. Smaller job and during the quoting process there was some uncertainties so a visit was arranged. Issue identified right away work booked and completed in a very reasonable timeframe and the crew was great. Kevin took the time to make sure everything the work performed was what was needed. Will be calling them again if I have any need of a foundation repair consultation.
Had a leaking basement, called this company and kevin showed up, right away he knew the problem and it was close to 5000$ to repair. Signed contract that included the following: sump pump install and weeping tile. Went ahead and signed contract but the basement was still leaking and new drywall, flooring were destroyed. Called kevin and he said I needed weeping tile and it was gonna cost 2500 on top of thousands I had paid...I told him weeping tile was supposed to be done according to first contract and he blamed the house being too old and missed the point...basically I was on my own. So I called another company and explained my situation and they already knew shadiness of abarent construction and it seems to be a common practice...misdiagnose and take cash from customers without addressing customer concerns...long story short it was a crack in foundation that cost 1200$ to fix...so even if I had signed 2nd contract it wd never have fixed water leaks and I would have been close to 7500$ not counting flooring and drywall installation they were destroyed twice...Am sharing my experience so that no one else goes through what we went through....always get atleast 3 quotes from different companies. I wd never recommend anyone to this company regardless of other good reviews.
This company is doing work next door; work that is shaking my house; lights almost fell off table and computer screen was shaking. I explained my concerns that my house/foundation would be damaged. Was told no - but they did not feel shaking. Asked guys working who was in charge - said Kevin, who is owner and he'd be on site soon. Asked if they could have Kevin speak with me. They said yes. Either they didn't ask or Kevin could not be bothered to address concerns about effects of his crew's work. When I called the company, I spoke to Nancy - who said they'd move the truck away to help - they moved it across the street ie 20 feet away so obviously house still shaking. When I called back to say house was still shaking she was very rude, talked over me, complained I had not called back the afternoon before and then hung up on me. And ignored when I called back. Charming behaviour. If this is how company operates and treats people (even potential customers) well that is very telling. Shows you they could care less and have zero concern or respect for people.
We had three companies give us a quote for figuring out and fixing the problem we had with water coming in the basement and as well putting in a sump pump. Not only did Abarent Construction have the best price but the president Kevin with his knowledge and experience knew right away what the problem was and left us with a detailed list of what needed to be done. His crew worked very hard for two days and left the site as tidy as could be expected. We would without a doubt go with Abarent again in the future if needed and would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for waterproofing solutions or any other services they offer.
When I discovered a horizonal crack in my home foundation, I reached out to all the foundation contractors in Edmonton. Abarent was the first to respond and come to site to prepare an estimate. Kevin offered his expert opinion and provided a quote promptly. During my evaluation process, I had a few questions and Kevin was always very helpful and quick to respond with excellent, unbiased advice. Once awarded, the project team was professional, courteous and efficient. They kept the site clean and tidy and diligently worked towards completing the job very timely. They were always there to answer any questions. When the job was completed they left the site clean and it was hard to notice they were even there. I am happy to recommend Abarent to anyone struggling with a foundation issue.
I only leave 5 star or 1 star reviews.
I spoke with Kevin as a part of getting three different companies to look at my possibly leaking foundation.
When we pulled up the carpet in our basement and took down the drywall, we noticed cracks in the foundation walls, and evidence of past water ingress into the basement, leading to disintegration of the nail boards holding the carpet. So, something needed to be done.
We contacted three companies: one that fixes cracks from the inside via polyurethane crack injection, and two that said to do it from the outside. For the reader's information, after twenty plus hours of deep research and going to the library and doing my own research, the best way to waterproof cracks is typically from the outside, unless you have some reason you cannot do that.
I spoke with Kevin as the final contractor of three different companies to give me a quote. Kevin was all business and to the point, and knew his stuff. He knew what my problems were before I told him based on his astute observations, and gave me a large handout that answered all my questions. Armed now with not only product information, but also application technique, I was hooked. This is exactly the information one needs to make a decision.
Kevin was actually the middle bid and was doing the job the way I wanted it.
We booked the job for April for after the ground is above -12C, and his crew was onsite Monday to Friday. The crew was clean, friendly, courteous, and pleasant. They did a fantastic job explaining, and applying the product.
The explained their after-project support and warranty, and I have full confidence in them for my needs once the ground settles and I need more rocks to cover.
Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the explanation, the products, the workers, and everything. I would have them back anyway, but hopefully, they never have to return to my house to do this!
