Happy Dog Acres, Saskatoon Reviews (5)
We've taken our dog to Happy Dog Acres numerous times for overnight stays, and have always been very satisfied with the service and care she receives. The most telling point for us is that when we drive up to the building, she is eager to go inside and strains to get behind the desk to the arena where she knows the other dogs are! BTW my dog is a large-breed and needs lots of exercise, which she appears to get at Happy Dog.
I think this place is awesome!! I love how the dogs are out all day and arent just stuck alone in their kennels. Most other places dont bother, but Happy Dog has them out playing for the entire work day, its awesome. The purpose for daycare is great because with most big dogs people dont have the time to take them out and they just leave them at home. Happy Dog lets them play around all day and I think its great. You can think that they are very un professional by other reviews but I know they do their best at taking care of our little guys :) I recommend Happy Dog to everyone! :)
I am the owner of two shih tzus, one is 14 years old and the other is 1 year old. I dropped off my dogs for 14 days over the Christmas holidays and the service received was very questionable.
I had called numerous times to check in on my dogs (my main concern was the 14 year old). Out of 8 calls across a couple days, they only answered once.
Upon picking my dogs up, the young one had a open sore on HIS nose, the girl working (no older than 20) said "maybe SHE scratched it on her kennel?"
My 14 year old, upon seeing my daughter and I, fainted, fell over, had shallow breathing and was unresponsive. The young staff member standing with us was also unresponsive and un-phased. Very unprofessional. Just a child care workers need first aid and CPR, the staff members at Happy Dog Acres should have some sort of training and/or respond appropriately. If I wasn't a nurse and didn't know what to do, my dog would not be here with me today.
Lastly, my 14 year old requires a specific meal plan to avoid developing his recurring bladder stones. I wrote out the details and provided the food required for both dogs over the 14 day period, however they claimed the dogs "ran out of their wet food half way through" and so they "fed them the Gastro diet food they had at the kennel." I would have appreciated a phone call so I could have arranged to get the food they needed to them. So 1) they didnt follow feeding directions given and 2) the food they fed my 14 year old may have been harmful to his health.

Even though your dog may seem tired out, this isn't the full truth about this place. They don't get the proper supervison that they need and it is not a safe place for your dogs. I know this first hand and am sticking with what I know. For the safety of your pets please take them elsewhere.
We have taken our pug Winston to Happy Dog Acres (urban site) in Saskatoon twice now...and both times he has come home tired and happy from playing with the other dogs all day.
I have heard horror stories of some boarding kennels but I have no worried with the friendly and amazing staff that looks after the dogs at Happy Dog Acres.
We are going away here again shortly and Winston will be staying there again. We have absolutely no worries while we are gone because basically we are giving him his own vacation!
If you want to treat your pet to a vacation while you're gone I highly recommend Happy Dog Acres. I know they may be a bit more expensive then other places...but it is so worth it (even just for the peace of mind).
