KENNEL COUGH IN A BOARDING FACILITY!! I also had my two dogs in from the 12-14 . Upon myself picking my boxer and lab up, I noticed a cough. That had progressively gotten worse after. Not only that my dogs had signs of neglect and smelled of urine and feces. I have also been coming here for a few years and was very disappointed in my pets stay. I contacted the employer JENNIFER, and she was very defensive and not compliant. I am a vet tech and will tell you, kennel cough is not air borne and is clearly an issue at this place of neglect ! Wouldn't recommend to anyone .. And will be sure to voice my opinion to everyone with fur babies on how unsettling and awful this place is.

I have used Holly's pride for countless years with my dogs.
We have a thirteen year old chichauhua and we put him in the kennel on the 15 th January
2017 Until the 26th January 2017 his shots were all up to date including bordatella .
I brought him home after the trip and he started with an awful kennel cough
We have had no sleep with the poor animal gasping rasping cough.
The vet bills are currently Two hundred dollars with a long prescription of antibiotics.
The boarding fees were 300 dollars giving a total of Five hundred just to this point.
Regardless of the money we have an extremely sick dog and we are very worried about him.
I called Holly's pride and told the person at the desk they have a nasty kennel cough virsus in the place.
But she was defensive and started to tell me that virus is airborne.
I already knew that but perhaps they needed to fumigate or have the place cleaned with bleach.
I admit we have not had this happen in the past but we now have a very very sick dog.
Kennel cough is a nasty tracial infection which can turn into pneumonia in older dogs with compressed immune systems. It is extremely contagious both airborne and by touch.
I should be concerned at leaving my loved pet in there at this point in time.
I think we will move on to somewhere else in the future.

I would not recommend this place. Pictures on the website are much different than the actual place. The dog kennels are very small compared to other locations in the area. The employees seem more interested in your money than your pet and they aren't always friendly. Initially it appears to be average priced compared to other places but once you include the add-ons like walks and play time it becomes more expensive than other places. The Animal Hospital of Oakville on South Service Road off Trafalger Blvd. would be a better place - kennels are bigger, there's a vet on site, they clip the dogs nails (for free) before your dog leaves, walks are included in the price and the people are friendlier.

Our princess (dog) has been a regular visitor at Holly's for the past 6 years. They are amazing with her. On one occasion we were overseas and she developed a urinary tract infection. We were contacted immediately and we asked that she be taken to a vet which was done without an issue. By the time we got home she was back to normal. Have used other kennels in the past with previous pets but this one is the best. She is always happy, well fed and bathe when we arrive. We have recommended here to many friends who are also very satisfied

I have been dealing with Holly's Pride for over 20 years! I use to live in Brampton and we had a Jack Russell dog at the time and we would drive all the way from Brampton to Holly's Pride in Burlington to board our dog when we went on vacation as we new this was the best boarding in the area. Our dog has since passed away and we now have a cat and live now in Mississauga and we still believe that Holly's Pride has the most cleanliness & friendliness pet boarding around. Do not listen to any of the negative views as for dealing with them for over 20 years I have not had any complaints with their services!

I have left my little Shitzu at Holly's Pride on several occasions. Firstly, prior to boarding I called and got the different packages available and always choose the 'pamper package' which includes walks and playtime ....I cannot imagine doing anything without spending some time doing research (unlike the other review). As she is small, we chose the smaller boarding kennels which are not pint-size as posted in the previous reviews. I have called from all over the world requesting progress reports and the girls have always been informative and sweet. I don't know where the negative reviews come from but after looking around(and a recommendation from my Vet) have been very satisfied with Holly's!! If anyone would think I would leave my 'precious pooch' to a kennel that was sub-standard they would be sadly mistaken! Thanks Holly's and see you in August!!

We have left our dog here a few times, starting from when he was 6 months old. The staff are wonderful, and our dog is always happy to see them and comes home happy. Highly recommended.

I agree I had a similar experience at this kennel. Not a good place to put your dog.

Great place. We have left our dog at Holly's several times over the last four years. Staff have always been pleasant and happy to give us an update when we call in to check on him. They clearly love what they do.

We left our small breed dog there for three days. As soon as we got there to drop off the dog, a door was opened into the place where our dog would stay, as soon as it was opened there were racks of cages the size of milk crates filled with little dogs that were loudly barking. I was devistated and upset when i saw that, this was not shown on the internet images. My heart was broken and I was very close to canceling the trip, due to the fact that my dog had to sit in a tiny cage for three days straight. What made matters worse was that, the people at the desk had told us when we got there that if we wanted a playtime for our dog it was $6, a walk was $4. How would you even know these things would actually been done with your dog when you were gone? It was expensive enough, I mean like additional charges, thats rediculous. Never to go there again!!

I have never left my two border collies (only friends) but, in this case, we decided to leave them at Holly's Pride and even though I was very nervous, the fact that they have been around for such a long time gave me the courage to try them. My girls were VERY happy when I took them home, even though one of them is very nervous and shy. I called them to see how they were doing and the girls will tell me everything that was happening. They kept me posted and I believe they were very loving with my girls. I will recommend Holly's pride and I am sure I will leave them there again!

To the staff: Keep the good work, not only making our dogs happy but us too.

Our nine year old Choclolate Lab has been kennelled at Holly's Pride anytime we are away since she was a pup. It's like a wonderful camp experience for her each time and we are relaxed and comfortable when we are away knowing that she is in a caring and warm environment. We have been unable to get her in this year for 6 days in March and we are totally beside ourselves since she will have to go to another kennel. We hope and pray that Holly's Pride will have a cancellation and call us. It is the best kennel ever!

My gigantic dog just stayed for 5 days at Holly's. The girls must have given him lots of lovin' because he came home happy, not-stressed, as if he'd never been away from home, and this is not a typical thing for my dog King who is such a home-body. The staff was friendly, professional and you can tell they love animals.

As for the other person who wrote a nasty review, don't listen to that crap. Obviously someone with issues if they didn't even bother to find out or get a clue about what happened.

I'm the pickiest person in the world, and I'd definitely have my dog stay there any day.

I have three large breed dogs that have all stayed at both the Burlington & Ancaster locations & boy was I impressed. Both locations are extremely clean, welcoming, & cater to all budgets. There is even theme designed villa's with a bed, decor & a TV that plays the Animal Channel! The staff are very professional & compassionate about their job which made me feel even better when having to leave my dogs with them. Whenever I come to drop off the dogs, the Holly's staff are always excited to see them! I really like that additional options available on top of the already amazing packages. Bigs dogs need to run so I always sign them up for extra walks & playtimes.

In regards to the other review, I guess you need to keep your pet in the plastic bubble it has lived in because dogs DO bark & can get excited, especially if they have never been properly socialized.

I have never had to leave my dog at a kennel before. I will never do it again. I have no idea went on with my dog while I was away, but I came back to a very different animal. He had blood between his two front paws. My guess is from scratching at the crate. His voice was hoarse and for a few days on my return he had a very different bark then when I left him. My guess is from constant barking.
I don't know what other kennels are like and I will never find out. I will never leave my dog in a kennel again. I can't say for sure what went on while I was away, but my guess is it wasn't a very pleasant experience for my dog.
This place was recommended to me by my vet.

you're an idiot.

If you're dog is in new surroundings with other dogs,
there's every chance he'll bark and bark much more than he would at home.

Where do you think you WILL leave your dog next time you go away...at the pound???

I'm going away soon, Holly's was recommended by MY vet and that's where she will go.

My advice to you...don't travel.

The fact that you would write " I have no idea went on with my dog while I was away....My guess is .....My guess is from constant barking" "I can't say for sure what went on while I was away, but my guess is...."

Well DUH, did you ask them? Did you call them while you were away to check up on your prized pooch? Was it serious enough for you to take him to the vet?

Why would you write a cowardly negative review without seeking out explanations from the kennel? You obviously didn't bother to ask, or you wouldn't have written "I have no idea, I can't say..." Duh, you're an idiot.

By the way, I've had my dog at Holly's and he's come home happy, healthy, and not even stressed. He's a big boy, loves to bark, and hates to be away from home, but sometimes, it's a necessity. Get a grip lady.
