I've been taking my dogs here for many many years now. Even now that I live in Saskatchewan, we usually plan our trips to leave from the Calgary are, just so we can board our dogs there. He is amazing with our Shepherd who is a security dog, and he has such a calm demeanor that he even walked her right on past his 2 tiny little yappy dogs at the counter behind a little 1.5' partition without even a reaction from her. If I had tried that there would have been blood & fur everywhere, with many a pulled muscles all around!! He's so so great with them, and they usually come back happy & tired from their runs out in the hills. I love that they have the dog door so they can go to the outdoor portion any time they need out, especially for our basset hound who always needs out frequently! We had another large dog until we lost her to kidney failure a few years ago, so when we would board the 3 all together the kennels have this awesome feature like a joining hotel room, where a board comes out so the 3 could all share 2 large kennels! :) Both of the big dogs would go straight to him whenever we'd go back, so we knew that they liked there time there, and it was always very reassuring to know that they could all be together.. I rave about this kennel constantly and really wish there was something like it nearby where I live now. :( The only time they seemed to come out stressed out was 1 time over Thanksgiving, but it was a very busy fully booked 2 weeks, so I think all the dogs in & out were a bit harder on them..maybe they didn't get as much one on one time as usual. And we kenneled them with my mother in law's maltese, so maybe they were a bit upset about that..lol. They're booked to head back this month again for more play time!

Because they are in/out kennels I'd suggest planning for a bath when they get home, as they can get a bit dusty, sweaty/smelly from barking and playing outside in the dirt at will, especially if weather is a factor if you're used to an "indoor dog". The same as my dogs smell in the summer when I kick them outside to play on a few hot days in a row.

Anyways, I highly recommend Mike's pet resort, and love that I can drop them off and know that they're being cared for so I can go on worry free without them. :) Also, if you look at any of the Drumheller area pet pages on facebook you can see all kinds of positive feedback from other locals with amazing referrals & experiences too.

See you soon!

I have used Cole's Pet Resort for almost 13 years. I have never had anything but happy experiences. Then they hired a woman who is probably ruining their good name.rived
I took my dog there earlier this year and when I picked her up she smelled of poo.( never have any of my dogs come out of there stinking.) The woman told me that she hasn't walked my dog but had put her in the cat room to play. She also fought to get out which was unusual because she usually loved it there. Then the last time I took her was two months ago, she was in for three weeks. .
I called the day before and told the woman I'd pick up my dog just before closing. I arrived 10 minutes past closing, despite speeding. I banged and banged on the door. I honked my vehicle's horn. I could hear someone in with the dogs but she refused to come out. The next morning when I came in she admired that she heard me but that they were closed. I told her that after 13 years I would have appreciated a bit of common courtesy! This woman just stated again that I was late and she had already locked the front door. I told her to have the owner call me. She told me she would leave a note.
When I got my dog home she ran into the yard and started eating grass then spent 5 minutes drinking water.( yes 5 minutes...I timed it). About 10 mins. later she threw up. She threw up 3 times in an hour. Even though I supplied her food for the kennel what she threw up was not get food. It looked like cat food with pieces of real chicken parts. I immediately called the kennel and got the same woman. I explained what was happening but the woman said that she didn't get any of that food from the kennel and must have eaten it somewhere else!!! I told this woman it would be impossible since she had been in the kennel for 3weeks! Again the woman said it wasn't possible. I argued but realized I was getting nowhere and told her to have the owner call me..I never recieved a return call.
My dog is my family and to have her so mistreated breaks my heart.
