I think the most important characteristics for a primary care physician to have are compassion and empathy. Each patient is an individual and coming to you from different places in their life, so they're coming with not only a medical concern, but they have emotional, spiritual and social needs as well. So having that empathy and leaving judgment at the door is really important.
