Heather N. Simpson, M.D. is a transplant hepatologist and has been practicing as an Assistant Professor since 2013. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Transplant Hepatology. Dr. Simpson completed her undergraduate and medical school at Saint Louis University and graduated with her M.D. in 2005. She did her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan. She obtained a gastroenterology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina. She then elected to pursue a year of additional training in transplant hepatology at the University of Michigan which she completed in 2013. Dr. Simpson belongs to several professional societies including the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the American Society for Transplantation, and the International Liver Cancer Association. Her areas of expertise include management of all general liver diseases such as viral hepatitis B & C, autoimmune liver disease, PBC, PSC, alcoholic liver disease, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, as well as the management of complications from cirrhosis. She has particular interests in the treatment of hepatocellular cancer and liver transplantation.
