I was very pleased with my purchase from westdale, they helped me find the perfect glasses with the best lenses i have ever had!! No complaints here, i think theses negetive reviews are rubbish!
There were innumerable problems! Cheaper lenses I did not want were installed in the frames. Mistakes were made which were never owned up to. Much time was spent making excuses for the problems rather than fixing them. After 3 attempts to correct the problems, Westdale fixed only some of them. The new owner is an asshole with no sense of service let alone polite human interaction. And most of all,THEIR PRICES ARE ALMOST DOUBLE THE PRICES ANYWHERE ELSE. I honestly don't know how they stay in business except for the exorbitant prices they rake in. Stay away!
My wife and I are from London and have been long time customers of Westdale Optical, in spite of the three hour return drive. In every instance we have been extremely satisfied with their professionalism and customer service. Subsequent to a recent purchase I experienced an uncomfortable distortion with my Nikon lenses. I drew this matter to Jim McLean's attention and after a through assessment he graciously replaced the lenses, at no cost to me.
Rarely in today's business environment does one find integrity coupled with a philosophy of "doing what is right" to remedy customer concerns. In my opinion Westdale Optical epitomizes this combination, and therefore I will always be a loyal and grateful customer. These guys will go the extra mile for you. I live in eastern Ontario, but while visiting family in Dundas, I found my way over to Westdale Optical.
Sales professionalism was terrific and the variety of frames and lenses are awesome; I've found nothing as stylish and high quality in my city.
After several months, the coatings on my very expensive Nikon progressive lenses started to peel. My eye doctor told me to "immediately" get these lenses replaced. The defective lenses were within warranty, but by the time I got them to Westdale Optical who hastily forwarded these to Nikon, it was out of warranty. Nikon stuck to their 12 month warranty policy and rejected fixing them without an outrages price. Jim Maclean stepped up and replaced my lenses "at his cost."
Westdale Optical has earned my business, and I will without hesitation buy from them again.

Absolutely agree with the previous post. Optician was incredibly rude to me when I asked simple questions which should clearly be addressed. Not sure if that guy was having a bad day or what. Worst customer service I've ever received, period. Never went back, never will.
In this store I had one of the most horrible experiences I've had in my life: Lack of professionalism, horrible attitude, rudeness and lack of basic understanding of the notion of "promise", "service" and "respect".
I found exactly the same thing, and you summed it up just about right.
