Golden Years Nursing Home, Cambridge Reviews (3)
This has got to be the worst place to home your loved ones in. They steal lie and allow abuse to happen there. Anyone hat reads the reports from the ministry would be in for an eye opening experience.
I am a employee of golden years nursing home . I have been employed there for 25 years. Over the years we have seen a lot of change . The home May be old and “falling apart “ in some people’s eyes but you will never get the good care and the family setting as far as I’m concerned any where else. We have had residents leave due to wanting to go to newer homes and have regretted their decision on leaving due to the care that they have received at Golden Years. We still have some family members that pop in just to say hi because they feel like “part of our family” still even after their loved ones have passed . I guess what I’m trying to say here is don’t judge a book by its cover . Come in look around talk to some employees and residents before you make your decision.
And if your wondering why I gave it a 4 star review .... there is always room for improvement no matter what home you are in .
My mother has lived in the retirement lodge here for 6 months, and we are extremely dissatisfied. The staff regularly berate her and other residents. They gave her a dining chair that was flimsy, and when it collapsed during a meal they mocked her for her weight and refused to call for help until my mom pushed her LifeSign button and triggered the call in her room down the hall. She fell and twisted both ankles badly, and when she requested a hospital visit for x-rays she was refused. Her feet swelled tremendously, and I took her to a doctor myself. She was told to wear ankle braces, but the staff refused to put them on her so the swelling continued. The administrator no longer returns my calls.
Also, there has been a string of thefts of cash from residents' rooms over the past few months. The reports to administration are brushed off. I had to get a locking box for my mother to keep her purse in so she doesn't lose any more money. We are now looking for another home for her.
