Riviera Apartments, Dallas Reviews (2)
If you enjoy the nosey office women with Myrna as their leader, talking behind your back, spying on people to cause trouble, you will fit right in. Outdated building, nothing but lies from the management. On the up side, if you are a drug user, you will also fit in. No criminal check to get in here! No surveillance cameras. When the pool is open, you have to access it from outside, lol!! There's no underground tunnel to get to it. Yes folks, -30 is always fun to walk out to go for a swim! Also, there is a law in Ontario regarding safety and security and it quotes:
http://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/060517#BK30
Window safety devices
25. (1) This section applies with respect to every window in a rental unit that is in a storey above the storey that has,
(a) its floor closest to ground level; and
(b) its ceiling more than 1.8 metres above average ground level. O. Reg. 517/06, s. 25 (1).
(2) At the request of the tenant, each window referred to in subsection (1) shall be equipped with a safety device to prevent any part of the window from opening so as to admit a sphere greater than 100 millimetres in diameter. O. Reg. 517/06, s. 25 (2).
(3) The safety device required by subsection (2) shall not make the window incapable of being opened by an adult without a key or the use of tools. O. Reg. 517/06, s. 25 (3).
Homestead feels they are above the law with a feeling of entitement, since every window in both building are not equipped or legally following the laws of Ontario.
Finally, if you enjoy walking in dog shit, this will be heaven for you. Nobody picks up after their dogs and no security to watch for this act. And the final kicker...they just RAISED the rent, advertising they have a swimming pool, they claim they're friendly (I guess if you refer to every staff member talking behind your back friendly),

You sound so smart ELVISH! Your words of wisdom have changed the hell my family went through at Riviera Gate. I did not know everyone smokes drugs...is that in the entire world? Ottawa, Ontario? Or just your mind? The underground tunnel was closed as soon as Homestead took it over. If they suddenly opened it now, it was likely just for you ELVISH. Have a nice day.
They do have an access to the pool through the building actually. And the most ' drugs ' that are used is weed. Everyone smokes it these days. It's not a big deal at all. Maybe get your facts straight before posting something.
I lived at Riviera Gates for 3 years... if it were located closer to centretown/downtown I would still be there. I never had a problem with insects, security, management or neighbours. I would say the only major problem I ever had was when they were undergoing major renovations and it was incredibly loud and inconvenient - we didn't get a reduction in rent or any type of compensation for the disturbance. Having an all inclusive (with central air!) apt with underground parking for $800 was an amazing deal. Management was descent and they were very sweet when I moved out. I didnt have any extra costs when I left so I was able to get all of my last month's rent back no problem. Definitely recommend this place!
