I have lived in the building for almost 30 years, and we have certainly had our past issues with Management. Several times these issues resulted in our having to go to the Landlord/Tenant Board, which usually ruled in favour of the tenants!

However, to be fair, the situation has vastly improved. We have a terrific couple who are now the Superintendents, as well as a regular building cleaner. The building is now much different in terms of cleanliness and the grounds are looked after. I did have bugs when the chute was closed but the situation was attended to immediately. The relatively new owners visit the building regularly, and I find that in dealing with Offsite Management, if one treats them calmly, professionally, and respectfully, while making it clear that you expect the same from them, one can nearly always resolve issues to the satisfaction of both parties!

I came to live here when I was 40 and I am now almost 72. I have chosen this as my permanent home as I do love it here. I love that I overlook the ravine, I enjoy the tenants,
and I appreciate the relationship I have with Diane Buckley, Gerald, and Dianne - Property Manager and Superintendents respectively.

Because I overlook the Ravine, I have made my balcony into my sanctuary - I enjoy watching the Squirrels and Birds, as well as the flowers that I usually plant each year, weather permitting - this year it didn't! I read, knit, enjoy my breakfast and even my lunch out there.
I also love to sit there in the evening and just enjoy the dusk! It is a place of peace for me.

This building might not be everyone's cup of tea, but for me it is perfect! A haven of peace! Who can ask for more!

gardens unattended. stairwellsunpainted and left uncleaned for weeks . rugs in halls left unvacumed for weeks . litter and garbage areas left uncleaned the only area of building that is cleaned once a week is the front lobby.very unkept no pride in building.

I have lived in this building since April of 2013.. and I have only had great experiences. Its kept clean and smells nice most of the time. The building managers are friendly and quick to respond to inquiries. Seems to be pest free and I live in the basement of the building.. I always recommend this building to people who are interested in moving because I am so happy here.. location is a bit out of the way but the last ttc bus stops out front at 130.. so if your not into all night parties and trying to make it home at 4am without a car then this is the place for you. Its a family building. It also smells like cookies from the peak freaks factory down the street and flowers in the spring/summer from the shop on the corner.. its a wonderful place to live.

I lived in this building for 5 years the new superintendents are horrible they just post notices rather than ACTUALLY do anything, THERE ARE in fact roaches and mice as a friend of mine had her apartment sprayed 6 times in one year and my husband and I found a mouse in our apartment on the 4th floor once they closed the garbage chute and neglected to properly clean it the building was littered in bugs and rodents. Sure they do a great face lift to the apartments but for the people saying "i just moved in or been here for a few months" give it time you will see what all the others are talking about! For the amount of money they charge to rent there you would expect some sort of cleanliness in the hallways or the carpet to be ripped up instead of repainting hallways 3 times in 2 years because cheap paint was used and it was cracking and peeling! For East York this place is slacking on cleanliness and courtesy good luck to those who move in plan on being treated like the prep perry management team is doing YOU a favour by rentin to you and taking your money lol

recently under new management...condo style at an apartment price, there are no bugs or pests thus far and Ive been here for almost 3months now..the bus stop is right in front of the buildings..the property managers are very nice and friendly and willing to help you out when they can..the garbage bins are in the parking lot..we are very happy with this place..come see for yourself! :)

On March 1st I am moving into rexleigh gardens.My apartment is a fully renovated one bedroom with a modern kitchen and bathroom wich is a bonus for the amount of rent they are asking for. I am looking forward to making this little building my home.

I have been to the building on a few occasions and met with the supers they were a very nice couple. The managment company was surisingly quick to process my application as for anywhere else you would normally wait 3-5 days and i had a same day responce.

It is a very well kept building... If you are looking for a quiet building in a nice area I highly recomend Rexleigh Gardens.

For the rents now charged for this place, you can do better if you look elsewhere.

The building is 50 yrs old with no upgrades ever done to the plumbing system, etc. This means the water pressure is poor on the upper floors when you try to shower in the morning. You will also need to keep adjusting the hot/cold water as temperature fluctuates a lot. (Maybe try showering at 5 am for best water pressure/temperature??)

Air circulation in the hallways is poor with mostly dirty air just being recirculated. This accounts for the smells in the hallways. (Management actually installed plug in air fresheners to help!!)

The kitchen and bathroom exhaust fans seldom work. Result is kitchen and other smells from units above/below may come into your unit. Last week I smelled cigarettes in my bathroom – as a result I had to tape over the exhaust fan grill.

The hallway carpets are pretty disgusting and beyond cleaning. They need to be replaced.
To add to the hilarity, management put out a memo last month indicating there are racist notes being left on cars, etc that are from some tenant(s) to others and they asked that this stop!!
We still get visits from the “cockroach man” every month as another tenant discovers roaches.
All in all, you can get a unit in a better building for the rents they are asking here. Shop around!

I am quite surprised at the first three comments as I have lived in the building for years and never had a problem with the supers or management. I agree that they did close the chutes but in lieu of closing them, they provided every tenant with in suite recycling bins, organics bins and offered door to door pick up for seniors and people with disabilities. Complaints; I think not. The building is always clean, the supers are great and management is always looking for new ways to upgrade and update the property.

I have to agree with the other reviewers here. The property management is awful. They do not care about their tenants!

Stay away!

I just recently moved into this building and at this point I have not seen any roaches or mice. The hallways are clean and don't smell. As far as the mangement company I don't know their flaws so I cannot comment at this time. As far as I am concerned at this I have no negative comments about this. building. Here things things that are great about the building... Tenants are great! Always friendly and helpful and it's very quiet.

Management has no respect for the tenants they make you feel like you owe them for letting you live there....it is not clean there are roaches mice even in the new apts ......they have mice and roaches.....there is garabge everywhere....the halls smell the only thing that looks nice is the lobby when them look out.... the rest is nasty.....do not rent here

Management company always in conflict with the tenants by breaking landlord/tenant law. Early in 2011 they illegally and without warning shut down the buildings garbage chutes so all tenants have to walk their garbage outside. Elevators to do not operate consistently (some people have been stuck in them for a couple of hours). Hallway carpets are stained, some apts are so cockroach infested they are sprayed every two weeks, and then there are the mice...
